    On one hand...

    - Anderson has finished wrestlers again and again (Hendo, Sonnen, Okami)

    - Anderson is the greatest offensive fighter ever, and is a superior striker to Weidman

    - Weidman lacks experience and is coming off a year lay-off

So Anderson should win by stoppage at some stage.

    On the other hand...

    - Sonnen's stylistic strengths meant he dominated Anderson for the majority of 6 rounds over 2 fights but once he got subbed and the other time he gassed and got stopped - Weidman is younger and fresher than Sonnen, and has better sub defence

    - Weidman will be able to take Anderson down, and he possesses better GnP than Sonnen, and probably superior offensive grappling too

So Weidman could easily grind this out via takedowns, top control and GnP, or he could very possibly get a submission on the ground as well.

It's up in the air. Anderson's most dangerous opponent since Hendo. If Silva wins, he has proved beyond all doubt that his 'stylistic weakness' means nothing, and that he is the greatest fighter we've seen in MMA so far. If Weidman wins, it's simply another case of a passing of the torch from a truly great champion (like Matt Hughes was) to one of the best of the new breed (like GSP was). I can't wait.

Sonnen is the only "wrestler" he's actually fought. Hendo hasn't effectively used his wrestling in years, and Okami is just really good at taking down inferior fighters.

This will be the second time we'll see The Can Crusher fighting a real wrestling talent. If CAnderson can beat Weidman in impressive fashion, I'll actually start giving him some credit. This is the first legit contender he's faced in his entire career.

Hard to understand why a troll would want to target Anderson Silva.

He's like some geeky ****ing comic book looking guy who walks into the Octagon and just ****ing destroys people with moves from the Matrix.

How can you not love the guy

GSP on the other hand....troll away.

Because it gets him the 15 minutes of fame he desperately seeks and can't get anywhere else.

Beating Bonnar ain't all that impressive but stopping him in the first round after standing against the cage and letting him hit you sure as **** is.

That's one thing about Anderson, he makes great fighters look ridiculous.

I'm not saying Forrest Griffin or Rich Franklin are all time greats but look what he did to them, he made them either look silly as hell or just punished them ****ing viciously.

For me, his legacy is already sealed. He can lose to Weidman, Jones or GSP and I still think he'd retire as the GOAT (Maybe Jones could surpass him in the future).

Any victories he has from here are just adding to his legacy really.

Beating Weidman would cement his legacy as The Greast of All Time. He's like 16-0 in The UFC and has made almost every man he's fought since his debut look like an amateur. His greatest challenge was Chael Sonnen (for what it's worth) and he turned the page on that. If he loses big by TKO or submission it will be more of a passing of the torch than anything else. Weidman is one of the best from this new generation of fighters. I believe Anderson Silva will punch him out, but like GSP said this is a bad matchup for The Champ. Weidman is very good at changing levels and physically strong. Hungry too. If he can get Anderson Silva down to the mat at least once he will probably end it there.

You are totally irrational. I think Weidman looks like a real talent and is a formidable challenger, but how can a guy with two meaningful wins in the UFC's middleweight division be a 'legit contender', but people with VASTLY superior credentials like Hendo, Belfort, Okami, Griffin and Sonnen aren't 'legit'? What exactly is your criteria? This makes no sense.

This is a big problem for Weidman.

Had he got the shot soon after his win over Munoz, his chance is way bigger, but coming for injury and layoff... :think
