Silva is a joke...MMA fighters will never hang with world class boxers especially p4p fighters like Floyd or even past p4p fighters like Jones. Silva couldnt throw a straight punch if his life depended on it let alone defend against one....Jones ko's him in the 1st round in a boxing match

MMA guys do not know how to punch, Sports Science measured Chris Bryd's punch at 1200lbs and Rampage jacksons at 850lbs. I like Chris Byrd but he punches like Malignaggi, and still he hits way harder.

Roy makes jokes of skilled professional boxers, him beating Silva will actually be embarrasing.

wasnt that also after sex with his wife(Chris Byrd).....Its funny how MMA always call out boxers because they know they cant hang with professional boxers...Imagine if they measured Klitschko's punch or Tua's....lets see rampage face one of them in a boxing match...most of the MMA guys cant even throw a proper jab or right cross, let alone fight world boxing champions

I don't know this Anderson guy, but he would need alot of boxing training - especially if it's that brazilian martial art windmill thing. Furthermore RJJ might need to be in a wheelchair also.

From what i have seen of Anderson Silva and it is not that much he appears to have some good offensive boxing skills of course this is based on fights with non boxers. He is also younger 32 to Roy Jones Jr. 39. He is bigger listed as 185 lbs on the UFC web site to Jones who weighed in at 169½ lbs for his most recent fight. Jones also has a suspect chin probbly due to age than anything else. Also this is not a prime Jones Jr. we are talking about. Silva could score a knockout in the first few rounds. However Jones is the betterand more experanced boxer. At 39 he still has a lot of boxing skills/talent kind of like Jery Rice when he played with the Oakland Raiders. He wasn't what he used to be but he was still realy good. Jones even in his younger days was not much of a risk taker in the ring. He didn't do the things that he did without knowing that he could do them. I don't know if Jones could knockout Silva but I think Jones would win the last 8 rounds of a 12 round fight.

 No, he practices Boxing and Muay Thai for his standup, not capoeira. The only time I've seen that implied as a standup art in MMA was with another Brazilian fighter Jean Silva.

    Here's Anderson

im sure jones could knock him out...Silva has little to no defensive boxing skills. Boxing is hit and not get hit and that slapsie Maxie punching Silva does a Jones counter is sure to follow

damn, Roy has some great moneymaking opportunities, good thing he didnt retire.

An easy win over Tito for 5 mill, and now an easy bout against Silva.

Let's not underrate Silva just because he's not a boxer. Slapsie maxie punching? What the hell is that? Silva has very accurate strikes, and very deceptive power due to his pin-point accuracy. He's open on the defensive end though, and will be countered all night by Jones leading up to a TKO.

This fight does nothing for either fighter or either sport. Both would dominate the other in their respective sports.

ever heard of former lightheavyweight champ Slapsie Maxie Rosembloom... he fought in the 1920s and 1930's...not much of a puncherr as you can see by his nickname. He has decent strikes against none boxers, Jones can throw any punch in the book from any angle and defend it or dodge it.

:patsch Sorry, didn't click for whatever reason. I'm quite familiar with Rosenbloom yes, excellent boxer with a stacked resume for such a light hitter.

Either way Silva can hit, he just can't box like Jones.

agreed....he sure cant punch like him either. Thats the point I was making. Roy Jones may not be a straight ahead slugger but he wasnt voted into the top 100 punchers ever by Ring Magazine for nothing.
