Agreed as MMA incorporates all forms of fighting which includes boxing. On the contrary, boxing has no ground game which is critical in MMA.

It doesn't prove anything about the average MMA fighter's abilities compared to the average boxer anyway as Silva is 10 times more skilled at boxing and 10 times more athletic than the average MMA fighter. Even if Silva manages to last the distance, I seriously doubt any other MMA fighter in the same weight class can do the same.

Boxing is also a very limited stand up game.

I'm not the one with the problem or in the closet. You're the one with a shirtless drag queen in your avatar not me....Oscarsexual.

    Are you serious?:patsch
Anderson Silva is a truly fantastic mixed-martial artist. He's downright phenomonal. Best Middleweight in the world.
But he wants Roy Jones in a boxing contest? Ridiculous!

its unfair that a guy with no more than 3 fights in a pro career get the chance to fight a great former champ without being ranked in any organization, while a lot of boxers who have 30 or more fights train their asses of to get a payday like that nearly half their life and all of the sudden this guy comes and says that he wants to fight roy jones with a 1(1)-1(1) record, that **** is just hilarious.

I'm not so sure about that. If it was just striking, no wrestling or ground game, but clinching and any kind of strikes were allowed I'd probably call it 50/50. Knees and kicks would definitely be an advantage for Silva, but Roy's advantage in the hands department would be a whole lot to make up for. If takedowns were allowed it would be an easy fight for Silva, but you're talking about just clinching, kicks, knees & elbows? He'd be super dangerous in the clinch, but Roy would still have the clear cut advantage outside the clinch.

Silva is a better striker from his waist down and inside the clinch...That much is true. Much greater fighter.....:rofl :rofl :rofl No. You definitely could say he's a much better mixed martial artist, but he'll never attain the level of greatness in his own sport that Jones has.......Not even ****ing close.

"Silva made his professional boxing debut on May 22, 1998 in Uniao da Vitoria, Brazil. He was knocked out in the second round by his opponent, Osmar Teixeira, who was an experienced professional boxer with a record of 20-5. Silva returned to the boxing ring on August 6th, 2005 in his only other boxing bout to knock out Julio Cesar De Jesus, who was making his professional boxing debut"

    Sorts it really

there should not be a war betweent boxers and mma fighters, mma fighters no deep down inside they can **** with the hands of a real pro boxer.

anderson is a monster, but against roy in just hand to hand combat, i think roy would split him, hell i think tito would split him as well.
