Silva is arguably the best his sport has ever produced. Silva is definitely the best 185 lb fighter ever.

Ali is arguably the best heavyweight boxer ever, and one of boxing's best.

De la Hoya is not best to ever compete in any of the respective weight divisions that he competed in, nor is he anywhere near being one of boxing's best fighters of all time.

Comparing Collinsworth to Rice is what you are doing.

 

Comparing Silva to Ali in terms of stardom - that's laughable. But then again comparing Ali to any boxer other than Tyson and Joe Louis is laughable.

Comparing Silva to Ali in terms of their sporting achievements and certain transferable attributes is perfectly legitimate.

 

Ali was great, but his celebrity was based on both boxing and his personality.

Anderson Silva in the U.S. is just a dude who can really fight, and in a game that isn't as forgiving as boxing record wise.

Just sayin' not trying to hate on Ali, but there are better comparisons.

Surely you are not so stupid that you cannot grasp that the sentence "That much like Ali, that Silva has an iron chin was hidden for many years because he moved so fast his opponents rarely connecting with their punches" only compares one very particular attribute that the fighters share and does not suggest that they are comparable (let alone similar). Because if you are then you've set a standard where any comparison except between people who are not identical twins that work at the same firm doing the same job while banging the same chick is unacceptable.

 

Silva does have a bona fide iron chin in my opinion.

 

Considering Oscar's popularity and talent, it's viable. Oscar will go down as an ATG. Not the best, but in the top 50 welters.
