it's not just lack of a ground-grappling... but grappling, anywhere, period.

I'll take the decent Judo-player or Sambo-guy... over the Boxer in MMA if I had to bet. Stopping a takedown when you've never wrestled ain't easy.

If it's a collegiate wrestler vs. a Boxer. I'll take the wrestler via Takedown to GnP.



These are the realities of real combat which isn't limited to the hands.

That doesn't lessen the value of boxing, though... unless you are one of those who feels that the best boxer in the world is also the best fighter.
This was a myth of maybe 50 years ago.

 

..what IS interesting, though. Would be to see Pure K-1 MAX fighters against welterweights & light-middleweight boxers... under MMA rules.. or K-1 rules, even.
