In an interview found on UFC.com Silva talks about his fight VS Vitor Belfort and explains that Belfort, which had been part of the team Nogueira for a while, broke the team's code of honor by choosing his path and going against him for a title fight. So to anyone who ever dream of a Silva-Rua fight, it's just not gonna happen. Also quick notes from UFC 129 GSP VS Shields Press Conference: Source for all that was: http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/2/8/1981868/ufc-129-gsp-vs-shields-toronto-press-conference-video
Not really sure whos officially on this team as they bring in a lot of people in and out. Vitor was in, no doubt. Shogun is a long time training partner of Silva and a very good friend of his. Ever since Shogun won the title we haven't seen Silva move up in weight, and he clearly said, in the UFC 126 post fight press conf., he had no plans of leaving MW at all.
rua fought machida twice and i thought machida was part of team nog/silva. then again i've seen jds sparring with rua and jds is part of team nog.
i'm not full loop on this but as far as i know anderson was raw about the belfort challenge because vitor would train at his house
Wasn't that when Anderson still had beef with Wanderlei and the rest of the former chute box people? Because I remember in 2009 Wanderlei basically moved down to middleweight to engineer a fight with Anderson (indeed the whole build to the Wandi-Franklin fight seemed to be based on hyping a possible match with Anderson shoudl Wandi win) and in the last round of Machida-Rua I Rogan excitedly speculated that we'd see Rua-Silva for the title (assuming the judges weren't blind morons). But now Wanderlei is talking about how great Anderson is and how he'll never fight him.
The Brazilians can be confusing to be honest with you. Its like they are the best of friends but if there is any fracture in the group then that causes them to be the worst of enemies.
How much of a say does Silva have? I remember a point in time when Dana was going to materialize a fight between Silva and Machida regardless of what feelings both fighters had. I don't know how the rules work but I would think if Dana wants a particular fight to happen then it will become a reality. Either that or fighters get canned.
Shogun Rua Wandy etc were all in ChuteBoxe back in PRIDE. They trained also with Team Nog. As you already know those guys NEVER fight each other. Thats the code of their teams. As they're treated like family. This is the reason why i was initially surprised as to why Belfort Silva was even made. As those two were in the same camp back in PRIDE. Then it materialised there was some beef between the two. As i said on another thread dont expect a Shogun Anderson Silva fight. Those guys will never fight. They're boys. This content is protected As Will said though there was some beef between Wandy and Silva that stems from PRIDE. Essentially ChuteBoxe's coach didnt want Anderson fighting at middleweight (205 PRIDE) because Wandy was already champ there. Wandy apparently said nothing in Silva's defence and if it wasnt for Big Nog Silva apparently wouldnt have fought in PRIDE. Basically Andersons argument was he had 4 kids to feed. Now that Silva is the king in the UFC he didnt appreciate Wandy saying he was going to drop to 185. Essentially this is about ego's now. But secretly those guys are boys for life. They're from the same town and have known each other all there lives. They'll never fight. That would cause way too much animosity amongst the former Chute Boxe members. They're almost like a band of brothers...
Thats never going to happen. Dana can say whatever he likes. Machida and Silva are two of his biggest stars. He's not letting go of either. And neither are going to fight each other.
I thought the Nogueira's were part of Brazilian Top Team, the rival team to Chutebox? Didn't Anderson LEAVE Chutebox and join the nog's team, I thought that was the main cause of wanderlei and anderson's beef. Either way the "Team Nogueira" code of honor shouldn't have anything to do with chutebox, Nogueira never fought for chutebox.
