Dude reading that thread was like being taught how to suck eggs :deal What you said i pretty much covered in my thread , in different words , Rashad Evans scored very clean TD's on Rampage and effectively man'handled him at times , what i was saying is that if Jones cannot budge Rampage (like i said no shame in that at all) then what chance does he have of out grappling Cain Velasquez , that was my point As for the stand up id have to 100% agree with what your saying
Before Saturday I would say Jones but now I will go for Silva. Jones did not look confident with his hands and his kicks are point scoring. I didn't see much bad intentions. Silva is still much more competent on his feet. I thought Jones striking had improved much more against Shogun but it still has a way to go. I also thought Jones would be much more dominant with his takedowns. Silva could survive some takedowns. Jones chin still hasn't been tested and Silva chin checks. Silva could beat Jones.
Rampage is known for his TDD, Silvas TDD is atrocious added to the fact he is the smaller man. He would get put on his back and smashed.
Lol the mans undefeated in the UFC, i know he is getting on but how can so many of you say Jones.. in my eyes jones is a poor mans Spider!
You're making the mistake of thinking about who's the better fighter, not who will win this match up. Size plays a huge part in this fight. If Anderson gets close enough to strike, especially with kicks he will be on his back with a huge guy on top of hiim that manhandles LHW's like they are children. JJ easily wins this fight.
I see where your coming from, but he has fought bigger fighters before, i think its unfair to stick him in the group of people who jumped up a weight class and lose. I think he is, well too unpredictable and unconventional to lose, tbh i think he'll lose when he is ready to retire and then probably rematch and beat whoever it is before he retires.
Silva has a smaller frame but he'd actually handle Jones size better than the 205 guys. Rampage is stocky but looked like a child when they clinched. Silva won't look so overmatched physically. They both have slim builds where they use technique to overcome a lack of size/supposed strength. Silva can be taken down by aggressive wrestlers but his tdd isn't as bad as people think. Hendo and Sonnen are straight ahead wrestlers. Jones has a bit more patience to his work and that suits Silva down to the ground.
As well as this, you dont want to take this man to the ground, he's gonna submit you. I still think its a young silva vs an old silva and id stick my money on the old dog lets have silva v GSP
I agree with every word of this post. For once, MM and I are on exactly the same page. Not even Anderson's other-worldly stand-up skills would be enough in this fight. They wouldn't be nearly enough.
Actually, when you're not overly focusing your attention to the bits of my posts where I'm disrespectful or questioning a guy's punch resistance, we agree quite often.
