Jon Jones needs to defend his belt a few times. GSP says if he moves up to 185 it will be a permanent move so that's just not going to happen yet. I'd much rather see Silva fight someone that can match him standing like Cung Le - but Le is not known by the UFC audiences yet.
I agree with this, because technically neither of them deserve a rematch as they both got finished, but (a) Sonnen vs Belfort would be a fantastic fight in itself, and (b) the winner of this fight would be in my opinion a clear number 1 contender, irrespective of the results in the Mayhem-Bisping and Munoz-Leben fights. I am not remotely interested in ever seeing Anderson vs Jones, but I would be interested in both Anderson vs GSP and Anderson vs Henderson II at either 205 or a 195 catchweight (champion vs champion).
Cung Le can't match Anderson standing IMO. Some flashy (and of course, effective) kicks can't come close to matching Anderson's all-round striking game utilizing jabs, punches, reflexes and kicks. Le would be sorely outclassed, it wouldn't be much of a test for Anderson. These two guys are at different levels in terms of MMA experience and ability.
But perhaps you'll say Cung could match him better than others at middleweight? Cung Le has an extremely well rounded kickboxing and wrestling game. He matches up better with Anderson Silva than anyone else at 185.
This fight would come behind: Silva vs Sonnen II Silva vs Belfort II Silva vs GSP Silva vs Henderson II at least, in my list of fights I'd like to see before Anderson retires.
Well I figure most people would agree with you so that's why the title of the thread is what it is - but that's the fight I want to see!
I would like him to move down and take the belt @ 135 then move to 145 take the belt there and up to 155 then 170 and on to 205 and the 260 and take all the belts. Unifining the UFC belts
I think a Sonnen rematch is a great idea. Why not? The hype will be ridiculous and it'll be a huge PPV. And don't give me this "Yah, but Silva already beat him." Only an idiot will refuse to acknowledge that this was the toughest fight Silva's been in his whole life and was perilously close to losing. So, let's see if Sonnen can do it again. Maybe he'll win this time. Or, if Silva's injury really hindered him so much, and the roids gave Chael an unfair advantage, then great. We'll get to see Sonnen beat up and knocked out. It's a win win situation. Either we see another great fight where Silva is actually challenged, or we see Sonnen get his big mouth shut. (This is all dependent on Sonnen getting past Stann of course.)
