Yep. And a lot of fighters are respectful almost to the point of awe against Anderson Silva. They are hesitant, they stand back and become almost hypnotized, and they don't fight to their regular level. Bonnar won't be like that. I doubt he'll be trying to get cute on the outside with Anderson. He knows it's the last throw of the dice and an incredible opportunity for him. He's a big, tough, experienced guy who is going to grit his teeth, come forward, try to impose his size on the ground, and fight his ass off until Anderson knocks him unconscious or submits him. But then again, that's what Forrest Griffin did too. :hat
I bring all these previous posts up because I don't automatically feel the same amount of threat for Bonnar. Bonnar can make this very interesting on the ground, and force a scoring nightmare.
Bonnar on paper looks to be overmatched. I'm betting my money on Silva, but I'm betting paper money only.
What a turd. So they get the best P4P fighter in the world, who happens to be entering the final stages of his career, and waste one of his last fights in the Octagon against an over-the-hill journeyman? Dana's trying to pack in too many PPV's, leaving the talent so stretched and thin that one injury destorys a card. Must be Jon Jones' fault...
I'm really fine with this. Anderson wasn't even planning on fighting again this year, and it will be fun to watch him clown Bonnar, if that's how things play out. Everyone enjoyed watching the Forrest fight, mismatch or not, and Bonnar can take a lot more punishment than Forrest. If Bonnar manages to actually make it a fight, that will be fun, too. It's cool to see a huge underdog try to defy the odds.
I think the bolded is worth remembering. I think the same as you. Nobody kicks Bonnar's ass in two minutes, so it's fine with me if Anderson hands out another unprecedented highlight-reel beatdown. If Anderson ends up in a real fight where he has to work hard and can't dance and clown around and look bored, that's good with me too. If Bonnar does well and holds his own for a round or two, I'll be happy to see him cap off his career with a gutsy loss against a legend. And if Bonnar somehow wins? If he grabs a submission or smothers Anderson for three rounds? Well, you couldn't help but enjoy an instant ATG underdog story. :hat
How about the scene where Bonnar does his pose while bleeding from all orifices after a win? Do you see that on this fight?
An all-time classic. :rofl This content is protected No. :yep Unless he does it to celebrate being able to walk out of the cage under his own power. :hat
Bonnar is pretty ****ing game. Overmatched I'm sure he will be but hes more of a fighter than Sonnen. :deal. its not like its taking the place of another fight. There aren't that many guys at MW I'm interested in him fighting anyway.
