http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6am0z_anderson-silva-vs-julio-cesar-boxin_sport (the guy he defeated was a nobody but then again , anderson silva is also a nobody in the world of boxing). I think that was a year or several months after his defeat against chonan in pride fc. (not sure though) In 1998 Anderson lost against (another nobody)... (then again , he wasn't even an mma fighter nor fighting in unsanctioned vale tudo mma fights back then)... he became active as a mma fighter in 2000... So anyway , he only had two fights in boxing...
Silva's opponent looked like he could have been his dad. It was funny as hell when The Spider did the Ali Shuffle and then walked into a big left hand. While the raw talent is there, RJJ would completely outclass him in a boxing ring. Anderson must have a huge ego to demand that fight. Anyone know what happened in his only other fight? All I know is that he was TKO'd in the 2nd. And Brazilian ring girls should be mandatory at all fights :amen
LOL that was a joke. An old, short, flat footed, no reach opponent and people think he can take RJJ. Sorry Silva your an excellent MMA fighter but no way would he last in the ring. And vice versa with RJJ or Mayweather in the cage
Totally agree. RJJ would annihilate Anderson Silva. But , there's nothing to be ashamed of. RJJ wouldn't last long in adcc competitions..and that doesn't make him a bad boxer because of it. Anderson should be more concerned about jiujitsu & wrestling than fighting like a boxer. (especially since a boxing stance isn't much worth of anything under mma rules)
Good find. Wonderful matchmakers for Anderson. They didn't even put him in there against a live body. The dude was a stiff. But I don't wanna take anything away from the man because he was CLEARLY undersized and he had a tremendously uphill battle ahead of him. I still like Anderson in a cage. I think it suits him better. But one thing's for sure, two things for certain, the man is a born fighter.
