Looks more like the fluke that it was after this schooling. At least to non-haters.

Ruiz never seemed like he really wanted to fight AJ again. I tend to believe what he said about not training.

Completely agree but losing that muscle has made a heck of a difference. Let’s not forget up until tonight one of the red flags thrown at him was his gas tank. He was sprightly until the end. I still think the old style makes fights proverb is extremely prevalent in this match up. For me aj excels on the inside an he came up against someone quicker and who has been throwing hooks up close for 15+ years. If you can name the faster thinner fighters who best aj up close I’d be interested to know. He’s clumsy coming into the clinch but against Tyson, who may tie him up and negate him, he hasn’t got to worry about being clipped as he did tonight. Similarly I had Deontay a huge favourite But if aj can negate his range and then find himself on his chest, it ends quickly for wilder, and also quite violently he offers zero if he was to find himself in that situation. Great night of boxing an also hunter proved me wrong

Yeah fair play to him but I'm not going to pay to watch Joshua, Wilder and Fury fight guys under 6'6.

Joshua’s blown fighters away, he’s worn fighters down and stopped them, he’s won points victories by boxing on the front foot. He’s weighed 254lbs and looked sluggish, he’s weighed 244lbs and gassed after going for a knock out. Joshua’s stood his ground and both won and lost toe to toe!

He’s been accused of being raided, a body builder, too big, no stamina, a robot, stiff idiot and so on.

Tonight he came in at 238lbs, looked quick, fast on his feet, in and out, judged distance well, moved away in angles, controlled the fight with a very stiff punishing jab, landed big left hooks and solid straight rights.

He was a 6’6” 238lb boxer/puncher and he showed great stamina and mental discipline in sticking to his tactics. No sign of gassing, no sign of stiffness, no sign of the robotic roidhead many wrote him off as.

He stepped up another level and showed he’s got more in his locker than just size & power.
Too many in here can’t see past their own arrogance!

No way Ruiz is 6'4. Joshua looks almost a head taller than him.

Joshua fought smartly the real issue IMO was Ruiz was not in as good of shape and could not cut the ring down and force the fight good footwork and conditioning would have gotten Ruiz the fight he wanted....other than that congrats for Josh regaining the title and I would like to see a trilogy before getting excited about seeing Joshua or Ruiz fight a Wilder or a Fury

Those criticising AJs tactics as cowardly, running etc, i am no boxing judge but seem to recall AJs gloved fist hitting the target area of Ruiz many more times than Ruiz hit AJ, hence the win for AJ, not AJs fault that the svelte Mr Ruiz was not quick enough to hit him.

If you want to see a fight held at close quarters then watch a fight in a crowded nightclub or pub, if however you watch a boxing bout in a boxing ring that is over 20 or more feet, then i guess there is a reason the promotors make that space available, and 'quelle surprise' lot of boxers will make use of that space.

Ruiz came into the fight heavier than last time, in fact built like a tank, AJ came into fight slimmer, any fighter with as much weight deficit as AJ had in bout with Ruiz and facing a fighter who had ko'd him in last bout, would be absolutely foolish to stand toe to toe with the other fighter, Ruiz had gameplan it was just AJs was better and it worked.

11 rounds to 1 looks for definitive then a hail mary punch that concussed the champion to which he didn't recover from. Joshua rushed in recklessly to finish Ruiz after knocking him down. This schooling shows if Joshua fought smart instead of making a stupid mistake he beats Ruiz easy. You'd be in a very small minority by calling this performance a fluke.
