All this to be back for a tune up fight against someone ranked 150th worldwide, but hey at least its not 275th unlike a certain Wilder.

Ruiz's first 29 pro opponents, for the first 7.5 years of his career, were virtually the same as Wilder's first 32 in less than 6 years as a pro. This is compounded by the fact that Ruiz had a 110 amateur bouts to Wilder's 35 and started boxing at age 7, whereas Wilder was virtually 20.

    Ruiz also ducked Wilder:

"Did Ruiz price himself out of the Wilder fight? The Fury and Zhang camps claimed that he did the same in their negotiations. If Ruiz (who was inactive and had been in questionable form) were confident of beating Wilder he wouldn't have demanded mega money.

"I’ll fight him (Wilder) for $10 million" - Andy Ruiz, 2023

    https://www.boxing247.com/boxing-news/andy-ruiz-jr-wants-10-million-for-deontay-wilder-fight/267901

Ruiz was paid just $900,000 for his subsequent 2024 fight with Jarrell Miller, which he drew and most thought he lost."

Why is Ruiz's "resume" not ragged on given it's clearly inferior to Wilder's? I guess it's because he destroyed undefeated Joshua.

Ruiz has fought Parker, Joshua x2, 43 Ortiz

Wilder has fought 38 Ortiz, 40 Ortiz, Fury x3, Parker, Zhang

Wilder is shot to absolute **** and has been for years, he should have retired after Fury 3 in 2021. Ajagba is a poor man's Wilder (failed to stop Demirezen, Rice, Sanchez who he lost to, Shaw, Vianello and drew with a somewhat compromised Bakole) and he got rid of Herndon in 90 seconds, no name journeymen like the guys Wilder was blasting out early in his career also stopped Herndon early.

I think he'd have AJ'd Dubious, who can't take a temple shot to save his life. He'd have underestimated Ruiz, got into a shootout and as soon as the tide turned against him he'd be looking for a way out.

I mean I'm just saying that if Ruiz comes back, it will probably be a meaningless tune-up fight against some part-timer, not even a journeyman - I hope I'm wrong though.

I don't remember Wilder and Ruiz being deep in negotiations for a fight to be honest, maybe they were? I just remember one time they were both presenting a PBC fight and they were being rather friendly with each other and agreed to '50-50' of the purse.

I agree Wilder is shot to bits, had Wilder and Ruiz fought in 2018/2019? I'd have favoured Wilder to stop Ruiz then.

I could see two fights for Ruiz. One is Wilder -- they're both shot now, why not? It could be a co-main on a decent card; I'd watch it. The other fight is Ituama, if Ruiz is looking for a cash out. Ituama's team would be very interested in that because at this point it's clear they're looking for a past-his-best vet with a good chin, and that is exactly Ruiz, with the bonus of Ruiz being a former unified champ. I'd think he should be their #1 target when you think about it.

If Whyte got 2.5mil, I wonder what Ruiz could get for it. 3.5? 4?

At this point a Joshua/Ruiz rematch actually does make sense. Both are severely declined. Fight is winnable for either guy. Miller deserves a rematch, Whyte, Chisora.....................I don't wanna see him against Parker though, Parker is still pretty elite, I don't think it would prove much.

Parker/Ruiz is pointless but actually the only rematch I'd be happy to see.

Kind of weird, but that draw was really an either way thing.

Otherwise, Itauma kind of works for both in strange ways too.

Just not a Joshua trilogy !!

He could have made crazy money from the Mexican crowd. Win or lose so long as he showed heart and commitment. He had the skill and great speed for a heavy. The guy just does not have the drive to do it. He is exactly what he shows. A fat lazy guy.
