I'm pretty sure Jermall made mention that he had a difficult time making 154 lbs for Williams and that he was moving up now to 160 lbs. I would definitely like to see him fight Andrade before he moves up for good, but I don't think he's going to campaign again at JMW.
Well Canelo has to take that title from BJS, it's inevitable at this point. But I do think Canelo doing so with the draw he is in boxing gives him more leverage than before against GGG. I still think GGG should have taken the 10 mill, because if Canelo grabs THAT WBO strap, GGG might have to settle for less.
I'm not sure the BJS fight will happen now that Oscar has announced he's halving BJS' purse. I bet BJS goes off into another year of hibernation. I'm feeling more positive about Canelo-GGG actually happening in September, from the way Canelo's team are talking I reckon they must be closer to agreement about the purse. Probably something like $10 million + small but significant ppv upside. Surely there's just too much money in it for it not to happen, I mean if it's $10 million or no fight GGG's team still need to take it, and Canelo's team ought to take a 70/30 split vs no fight as well since the money is huge. Both GGG and Canelo would need to fight something like 4 times to make the same amount of money as fighting each other.
You're probably right about BJS. I honestly think he's going to go after more domestic level fighters to try to build his resume, but after his last performance he may concede to try to put his name on the map and actually try to beat Canelo. Well see. A lot of GGG supporters don't like the 10 mill + PPV upside offer, and actually argue he deserves more money because he holds 3 major title belts. I think it comes down to resume though and GGG doesn't exactly have the best resume. Actually it's pretty weak imo, but if Canelo had to take 5 mill for Floyd 3 years ago, and 6 mill for Cotto, there shouldn't be any reason for GGG to not take the 10 mill and run with it. And I agree with your last points. GGG at the end of the day is turning down his biggest payday ... SMH
Agree about BJS, but if I had to put money on it, I expect him to swerve Canelo and GGG. Actually, I don't like the $10 million "flat fee" as Oscar called it. I actually think the first GBP offer was a truly flat fee and that GGG's team sent back something between 30-70 and 40-60 as a counter-offer. My opinion is that was a typical start to negotiations with rather low starting offers, but I think that GBP will have already sent or are going to send a slightly better offer with PPV upside that will get accepted. Perhaps there is some agreement already as Loeffler recently said they were sorting out a date + stadium. Canelo's team say the fight will happen too.
All I'm going to say, is GGG better not let Canelo snatch that WBO, because if that happens he's going to wish he took the 10 mill plus PPV offer.
That's quite true. All I'm trying to say is that I am hopeful that the money discussions are close to agreement.
As a boxing fan I'd love that fight but I understand why business wise it most likely won't happen. These guys would make pennies fighting each other and the winner doesn't become some "huge draw", you got to beat Canelo/GGG etc to become a draw.
The Andrade-Culcay fight is going to purses (again) on Thursday. Andrade should take that fight as quick as possible, win and then have some leverage in negotiations, is he'll (kinda) have a title. He doesn't seem to realise that just being talented doesn't get you fights. You need to be in the public eye and bring something to the table. Not fighting once a year.
It's 10 mil flat. ZERO PPV UPSIDE. Where the F do we get that from. Isal or James 5K made that ish up to make it look as if GGG is passing on 20 mil. It's 10 mil flat, take it or leave it. And probably at a negotiated weight of 155/156
