If a fighter gets hit by a blow that would knock him down but it doesn`t because the ropes are holding him then the referee can, at his discretion, administer a count. At this point if the fighter is just lying against the rope like a dead fish and not trying to get untangled or show he is making an effort to get back in then the ref will simply count to 10 and declare him knocked out. In Bute`s case however it is not the same thing, Bute was knocked down and got back up, he may have leaned on the ropes a bit after he got up but it is not the same scenario.
