Is Andrade still boxing? It's been a long time. Last I heard from him he ducked out of a match with one of the Charlos a week or two before the event.
It's actually similar to what Pacquiao does, except a little more sadistic. Pacquiao will go up on the ropes, raise his arms above his head and allow the opponent to hit him at will. Pacquiao said he does this as a mind game to show the opponent they can't hurt him. Golovkin is similar, except he allows their success not to get in their head, but to please the crowd and play a bit. Scary
GGG toying with Willie Monroe reminds me of Joe Calzaghe toying with Roy Jones Jr. even let him get a punch in here and there, and literally standing forehead to forehead showing off and being cocky as hell, driving the point home to Roy no matter what he did, he had no chance, and of course just to emasculate Roy as well.:rofl Kovalev and GGG have a touch of Calzaghe in them in that respect. Watch Calzaghe-Jones Jr. to see what I'm talking about.:deal [YT]Ic1kvdnHkLA[/YT]
Andrade could be a Lara type of bogeyman, but awful career choices and his non fan friendly style make it hard for him to have a decent chance of getting big fights
I disagree with the assertion that Andrade has a NON-fan friendly, or negative fighting style. Yeah, he's slick defensively, but he throws in combination and mixes up his shots well, sitting down on them when he's in proper position to not be countered. He had some scary moments early vs Martirosyan, but fought very effectively for the next 11 rds. That was a very close fight that could have went either way. If I was Andrade, I'd get active, screw risking an early, almost certain L to GGG, and work my way into contention for someone more beatable at MW like whichever titlist is holding a title when GGG moves up after becoming undisputed. :think
Andrade isn't that good, the Charlos beat him. He isn't even on their level he's one of the weakest champs he'd have no chance against Canelo or Lara much less GGG.
