Take it easy - you're beating a straw man. Thunder said in a different thread that he thinks that Andrade deserved the win. And when you say "Andrade was up at 9 or 10 (i timed it)" you probably mean Bute...
Not really, because he didn't get the victory. If everyone understands what really happened, it's not so bad, but I am starting to get the feeling that this will get swept under the rug. It will go down in history as follows: "Bute was outboxing Andrade the whole fight but Andrade almost pulled it out! Too Little, Too late I guess..." Granted, Bute was totally outboxing Andrade, but this too little too late nonsense better not end up being the cliff notes of the nights events.
A Rematch would be interesting. Andrade would know he could hurt Bute but Bute would know to stay the **** away. I honestly prefer Bute's style, just like I prefer Cotto's style to Margarito's, but on this night Andrade got his man. For the record, I don't think Andrade is really the cream of the SMW crop. He could easily be beaten by anyone at SMW with a good chin and/or a good lateral movement. I just wish he had the opportunity to get beaten as IBF Champion, not as a coulda been.
hey you guys know if THUNDER said it is the truth, i actualy was gonna put money on this fight for BUTE to win, i am shocked because ANDRADE GOT ROBBED lol its very sad
I didn't see the fight. I have only seen the last minute or so of round 12 but there are a few things i noticed. 1) I know its the last minute of the last round but the ref could have stepped in anytime to end the fight before Bute went down. I have seen refs step in to stop fights so near the end when boxer's have been in better states than what Bute was in. 2) Bute was up at 9 but he clearly couldn't continue. Even this late into the fight and with Bute so far ahead on the score cards i still wouldn't complain if the ref had stopped the fight just after Bute got up. One good flush punch to a fighter when they are as ****ed as Bute was is increadably dangerous to someones health and a good ref should think about the fighters safety before anything else including thoughts like, "its near the end, hes clearly up on the cards. He may be able to ride out the storm until the final bell". 3) The original poster (Shelterr) asked why the ref bothered to look over his shoulder when he was administering the count. I don't want to have a go at Shelterr as he is a good poster from what i have seen of him but you will find that most refs do look over their shoulder when giving a count. I presume this is to make sure that the other fighter is in the nuetral corner so you can't really blame this ref for that as most good refs do it. Unfortunately when the ref does berate Andrade for not being in the nuetral corner the camera has zoomed in on the ref so i don't know if Andrade did infact stray from the nuetral corner. Does anyone know if he did? 3)
Knee jerk reaction. Thunder has (as almost all good Canadian fans in here) acknowledged fully that Librado was robbed. Respect to them. Sad for Librado having to go back to California without the belt he won. PS. I am .. well was... a fan of Bute, but I don't want him to keep the belt like that. It will stink until he gets rid of it now.
He was robbed IN THE FACE, why the hell would the IBF hire a Canadian referee for this fight?, that referee is one of the most HORRIBLE referees I've seen. Nearly as horrible as the referee in Hatton/Tszyu.
I realize fully why the ref looks at Andrade initially. Thats the rules. But what causes him to look back is unexplainable. You can see him trying to figure out a way to delay the fight. The fact that he initially looks at Andrade and turns back to Bute implies that Andrade was not doing anything wrong from the outset. Which means he has no reason to turn back in the middle of a count.
