Gamboa, agree there. Do you think Berto has a lazy streak in him? I do personally, just wondering if anyone else had seen it, not based on any facts by the way, just a hunch:yep
It's his mental game I am worried about, and that would be part of it. He seems to deviate from his gameplan if put in the wrong situation. I just don't see him being a top P4P guy....can't put my finger on it. He does look a little lazy at times.
WBC is an independent boxing sanctioning body and they have their own ranking system. Since Berto is now second behind PBF on their list it simply means he bested the rest of the field and out accomplished them, otherwise we will hear a lot of noise from the other fighters and their stables.
The only real danger I see to Paul WIlliams continued success at 147(aside from PBF), is the scale. I could see maybe in another year or two, him draining himself alot ot make weight, and coming into a fight weight drained, and being outhustled by a good fighter with a lot of stamina. He realistically needs to go to 154 within a year or two.
Why would Floyd need a tune up fight? He is at the height of his career. And correction, Berto would not look good for no rounds.
He doesn't need one. But people take them anyways. Pacquaio still does. Berto would look good while PBF was warming up I think. He may not win a round, but he would put up a fight for a couple.
We all know that PBF will starch Berto anytime anywhere 3x a day . . . but as far as the WBC he earned his spot behind PBF. But that fight won't happen.
Even Lou DiBella said that Berto is not ready for guys like Cotto and Mosley yet but Floyd said in one interview that the man is gonna be a star in the future and I guess it worked... Bottom line, both Hatton and Berto simply appeared in those positions after Mosley and Klose been kicked out and that has to do with the issues between the WBC and the WBA commissions. Berto's position means **** cause they have Miguel Rodriguez at number 2, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr at number 4, Jackson Bonsu at number 5, Isaac Hlatshwayo at 6, Zamora at 7 and even Collazo comes only at 8 - none are expected to be given a shot at the title as long as Floyd holds it.
Word has it Isaac Hlatshwayo will be Berto's next opponent for the IBO title. It is planned to be the co-feature to Paul Williams/Quintana on Feb. 9
How many times does Floyd have to say he only fights for the money. The guy does not take warm up fights, he is the best in boxing. There is a better chance of me living to 200 than Floyd fighting Berto, first off nobody knows Berto.
Which is something I have already said. However, I left open the ONLY reason he would take such a fight.
