I've pretty much seen every fight of both guys for the last 7 years or so. It's obvious that their trainers stress very little defense and their focus is almost exclusively on offense. And that's a shame because both had the potential to do some amazing things. PW with his ability to fight at WW via a 6'2" frame and Berto with some of the most fastest hands EVER to lace up the gloves.

PW is already done. Berto is on his way to being KTFO in due time. He has no head movement. His corner tells him nothing of technical significance in terms of IMPROVING his game plan. He is a KO waiting to happen because he has no regard to defense.

    It's just a shame.

Most definitely. They had the physical tools to do more than they did if they were given true world-class training and instruction. Imagine somebody like Amir Khan with Peterson or Berto's shitty trainer. He would've been knocked the **** out more than a few times by now. Great trainers do make a difference and unfortunately, there aren't too many out there today.

They are who they are. Remember both those guys won titles and at least pw has fought decent to good comp. Both have styles in which they rely on offense. Neither is a big puncher. Pw is superior to berto IMO but if their opponent is a superior counter puncher or equal to better offensive fighter then berto and pw are in trouble.

And Devon Alexander. He expends all sort of energy grunting and bouncing around and doesn't have the slightest clue about proper head movement or adapting to time his opponents shots.

Did anyone else get sick of the Gary Russell ass kicking? We all know HBO has already invested on this guy based on their commentary. Pretty ridiculuos.

I was annoyed. They were even saying he had great power. I mean, Russell's talented and could end up being a very solid champion, but at this stage, there are endless questions yet to be answered. No need to shove him down our throats.

I agree. Berto seems a bit lazy and gets tired way too easy to go along with his nasty habit of standing still and straight up after throwing a punch. Also has a habit of loading up on every combo(another reason he gases). I think he lacks passion for the sport. All the talent in the world though.
PW, I mean c'mon, how often can you get caught flush with a straight left before you learn. And how is someone so tall an inside fighter? All the heart in the world though.

It's pretty obvious by now who the HBO fighters are. You can just hear the biased commentary about how great so and so is. And when they lose, they just dump him to the side. Why not just try to make great fights instead of riding some gravy train. Showtime does this.
