Top trainers have too much in their hands. Doubt also if they will change their habits once inside the ring. See hatton.

I agree that they would be better fighters, but at what cost for us fans? everyone isn't meant to be a defensive wizard even though they may have the physical frame and/or physical tools to be one. they're more exciting the way they are, and they've done some pretty good things with the styles they possess.

i too am wondering if there was some sneaky video tape editing of the last russel fight before the other night where he was unloading on the guy

you could tell last night they didn't want to put him on tv but the demand was there so they snuck him into an 8 rounder which max even said hbo normally don't do

i expect since he didn't look overly exciting hbo will limit his tv time now to hide him and get a few more fights out of him before they toss him to the wolves

How? Pavlik, actually made it to the very top, and with far less athletic ability than either Berto or Williams on top of that.

I wouldn't call Berto lazy or say he lacks passion, because he does work and fight hard, he simply lacks, fundementals and skills, and like Williams is a gifted athlete who got paired with a **** trainer.

all he has to do is, "keep double that ****ing jab." you gotta be able to tell a fighter more than that. i don't think that's the key to every single fight.

Paul Williams is a 6"2 Southpaw that could have made the 147 limit...How he never hooked up with Emmanuel Steward is shocking.

My problem with Bertos trainer is that when rounds don't go Bertos way, his trainer really sounds like hes about to break down and start crying.

I totally agree. Peterson has shortened Williams career exponentially, by not teaching him the basic fundamentals of defense. The same with Berto's trainer. They are waste talent by not teaching their boxer any semblance of defence. Williams will be in serious trouble if he tries to continue fighting at 160.

So whenever a guy I like loses can I use this excuse?

"Hey, it's not his fault!! It's his limited trainer."

    The trainers aren't the problem.

Paul should train with Emmanuel Stewart, he'll teach him how to use his size effectively as anyone.

Andre should go to one of the Mayweathers or Freddy Roach, he needs someone to teach him some defense because while this man-to-man battle of toughness has worked quite a bit for him, some guys aren't going to crumble and not get back up(like Victor Ortiz) and he needs to use his physical abilities more effectively.

LOL. Why does the trainers ALWAYS get the blame when hype jobs never live up to thier hype?

Berto and Williams are both just EXTREMELY dumb fighters.

Some guys are just blessed with ring IQ, and ability despite not having world class trainers(Calzaghe comes to mind).

Berto and Williams is just ******s in the ring with limitations, and theres no changing them.
