Still some flaws in his game yes, particularly with his defence and overall movement. But the guy is a damn good fighter, who has started to improve leaps and bounds since earlier in his career. Most of all, i really enjoy watching him fight.

His combination punching of late has been unreal, especially considering the range of punches he uses, the hand speed and the power on every shot. Physically in the ring, he is also very impressive. A very strong welterweight, who although not the tallest, he has showed his impressive strength in all of his recent fights.

For those who point to him having a questionable chin, i think that is a a big exaggeration. He got hurt off a punch he didn't see vs Riveria YES. But he has also taken some very hard flush shots vs Estrada among others, and not been phased in the slightest.

He is definitely ready to start fighting the lower end of the top guys at welterweight. Luiz Collazo, Joshua Clottey, Kermit Cintron etc etc... IMO he can beat all of these guys, although Clottey would provide a very tough test.

I would like to see him step up more before making any concrete predictions, but he would certainly be a tough fight for anyone in the division right now, and is a very exciting fighter.

Whether he can hang with the likes Judah, Mosley, Williams, Margarito and Cotto remains to be seen. He has certainly become a legitimate threat in the division however, that is unquestionable.

Yeah mate for sure, guys like him Ward, Dirrell need I say Gamboa, etc are all in that bunch of talented prospects a few fights away from exploding on the big stage. Berto probably experienced wise slightly ahead of that group.

I might watch a few more of his fights before commenting on a Clottey type opponent but im naturally drawn to be a fan of his type of style.

he is a bit stationary, but he is sick when it comes to throwing combinations, hope he steps up his game soon against top contenders so we can see what he's really made of

He's a great offensive fighter, but unfortunately like many young fighters today he uses his offense as his defence. Some fighters are able to pull this off (Eg: Pacquiao), but even they usually have to develop some subtle defensive techniques in order to compete at the top level. He may be able to beat some of the lower top 10 guys with his current style, it just won't be as effective against the top guys in his division.

If he can develop some good head movement and footwork to go along with his already blazing offensive arsenal, he may well be able to become a top fighter. In his current state he's to open for counters and hasn't proven a solid enough chin to warrant fighting in such an offensive-minded style. He's a very talented guy with good speed, power and strength, hopefully he can build upon these assets with some technical tweaks.

On another note I really like watching Berto fight- He's very entertaining with his quick, powerful combos and brutal style.

I havent seen to much of him but he throws some awesome combinations and looks to have a good chin, just needs to work on his defence a little and he could be a great champion.

Berto is a major sucker for the feint. imho that's his biggest flaw.

You are absolutely right. And that may be the thing that kinda turns me off about him.

He's a great physical talent for sure, but there's something I just don't like about his style...he fights at a fairly slow pace, and does flinch at feints, you're right.

Berto strikes me as a guy who might get one of those big shocks when he steps up. But then again, I think he has a great style to fight someone like Margarito, who throws a lot of fairly visible shots.

Berto's explosive power definitely makes him fun to watch. I would like to see him step it up and having a belt might make that happen. A lot of good fighters at welterweight. He doesn't have to face Cotto, Mosley, Williams or one of the other top guys right away. Just someone who will push him more than what he's being pushed.

Berto will be great, but as some say they would like to see him step up. I feel like a Collazo, Quintana, or Cintron would be in his best interset. Then maybe Clottey or Judah. Then he can ready for the top 5

I like him, But I feel bad for him because hes got those belts. I'm not sure if he is ready to be thrown into the fire yet. He certainly could have used a few fights with the Luis Collazo's of the WW scene before being handed a top belt.

Thats similar to what I was thinking. Berto needs to step up but not quite to the elite level yet. But those belts may force him to jump a bit more than he's ready.
