I had the Berto-Quintana fight far closer than HBO and thought it was close going into the klnockout. But the fact remains was that Quintana was pretty much ready to retire before the Berto fight. And would you really want Berto to face Pac, I wouldn't, especially IF I WAS a fan of Berto.
That is silly. The new guy experience paradox. We can't hire you because you have no experience. I can't get experience unless you hire me. atsch
Man Quintana was ****ing ruined by the Paul Williams rematch. That was a real cheap easy way out fight to put on HBO
I still get irked that Berto turned down a Hlatschwayo WBC/IBF unification fight when it would have been on HBO and he would have been getting paid 750k.
That is messed up. Unify and people have to come see you. Honestly though I don't see Berto as having much upside at this point. That is why I hope he gets a few big fights. I can't really see him being all that dominant over time. He is like a big Malignaggi. For that style of boxing he gets hit way too much.
The deal is almost done, and is against Joan Guzman, this is true, Guzman himself told this to a friend of mine in brooklyn.
What a fight. I can't believe Berto would rish himself against a craftsman like Guzman. 'Bout time he(Berto) stepped it up.:good
So Guzman's going up to Welter to take on Berto? Interesting fight, but yet another undersized challenger (to go with Forbes and Urango) I would have liked to see Berto take on his mandatory, oh well. Maybe he has peaked already as he can't get the big names to face him ... and hasn't had a competitive fight since vs Collazo where IMO the people acting like Berto got this highway robbery do the fight no justice, if Berto robbed him, how come two of the scorecards were 114-113? All Collazo had to do was win one of the last two rounds and that 114-113 scored for Berto goes the other way.
