the opponent is michael trabant of germany. at first i didnt know much about this guy, but i did some "research" on him.

turned pro at 16.........very unusual for a european.

both his losses came by split decision, one to jose antonio rivera in a world title fight, the other to frederik klose of france in a euro title bout. but he also holds a win over klose.

graham houston says that he has only been down once in his career, and that was from a right hand from rivera, but he got up quickly and won the next round.

he is also said have a good left jab and is very clever.

so this looks like a real good test for berto!!!!!

I agree this will be a good test, just saw Trabant fighting once against Marco Cattikas, but he was tested positiv for steroids after the fight.
Most people give Trabant no chance though

Very rare a German loses a fight at home!

    Can't be much good then!

Berto is an excellent fighter, if he was either side of welter (140/154) he would have had a title shot by now. He is certainly a better welter than Paulie is a lightwelter.

I saw Trabant fight a lot of times on ard/zdf.. he is a tough guy with a decent defence. He is not as good as he was a few years back though.
I am 90% sure Berto will outbox and outpower him.

    trabant is no joke!!!

i have seen him many times and skillwise he is far better than any opponent that berto has faced.

great left hand and very very tricky.

unlike most euro fighters, this guy is very crafty. very "creative" fighter, can punch from all kind of angles, very hard to figure out. good combination puncher, great variety of punches.

and he has a good chin.

unless he gets cut (which can happen with him) badly, he can give berto a competative fight.

berto will win, but i think trabant will give a good account of himself!

It's not gonna be a TKO/KO but a relatively easy win for Berto (let's say 117-111). I've seen some of Michel's fights, and he's a good contender, but I don't think that he's is in his 'prime' anymore and of course he had that steroid trouble and since then he hasn't done anything on the higher level...
