    Per Dan Rafael.

    Matthysse $375k, Broner $1M

I'll post a poll to gauge responses, but I'd venture 90 % of fans who tuned into the telecast were there to watch Matthysse and Broner. Yet Berto somehow makes more than Matthysse even after losing his past 2 fights and being exposed as a PED user.

Fighters like Roman Gonzalez and Juan Estrada are relegated to hard-to-find outlets for far less pay, while a fighter nobody really wants to see is rewarded with another bloated paycheck.

This is why true boxing people don't like Haymon and by extension the Showtime executives. If you're one of Haymon's special people (as Berto seems to be), you get multiple chances to make a ton of money at the expense of more deserving talents.

Doesn't mean you should hate Haymon. He's not a likeable guy apparently but he's a business man. It's his job to make sure his fighters get paid. Gonzales and Estrada not getting paid much or being televised on Showtime isn't Haymon's fault, unless he's paying to keep them off TV?

Matthysse is also with Haymon, he should have been paid more than Berto. the simple answer and most obvious is that Haymon favors black fighters.

Showtime has the same budget no matter how it's distributed. That 400k spent to buy a non-competitive Berto tune-up could be more wisely spent. As a customer of Showtime, I don't appreciate my money being spent on frivolous comeback fights.

I just feel if Showtime didn't feel compelled to purchase all of Al Haymon's showcases that they would be more aggressive in seeking out better fights for their viewers. After committing all that money to Haymon guys there's probably not enough left for other managers/promoters.

Berto has been with Haymon the longer than most, going back to the HBO days. Matthysse just signed recently. I expect Matthysse has Argentinian handlers and Haymon is just there to work with American TV. Not sure if this fight was shown back in his home nation.

Matthysse made good money, I'm sure he was happy with it.

Like it or not berto's name is bigger the Matthysse. He was supposed to be the next big thing but things didn't workout. I'm sure he was getting paid in the upper 1mill to 700k range until he fell off so this is a huge pay cut for him. Matthysse got I think a million for the Garcia fight but hasn't seen that since. He needs better management on his team to get him more money. It's a business but still getting paid better then ufc guys.

To add, I did want to see how berto faired. I was a fan of his, but it's clear to me his best days are behind him. If he gets in with a live body he's going to have trouble. His defense is horrible, he gets hit way too much. His power isn't the same ether, alto he was fighting joe nobody's he at lest had power to ko guys. His last few fights he's giving it his all but not having the same effect power wise he once had. He did have enough power to make upsher gun shy.

Amazing that Berto still commands that type of fee. The networks really need to get their priorities straight.

Paying millions for dross is killing the sport.

Berto probably giving daddy Haymon his hatian hurricane special at night, and for 50 k he even adds a wig so Al can fulfill his tranny fetish.

matthysse made a mistake signing with haymon. has he even gotten a purse that's over a mil??

excitement/entertainment value, matthysse is on par with rios and alvarado.

rios made about 3-5mil with pac, over 1mil 2x against alvarado, and chaves.

alvarado made over 1 mil against rios 2, provo and jmm.

Berto and Boner are overpayed clowns... Matthysse should be making more, as he would knock either of them out cold with ease, but boxing isn't a fair game... Con jobs often make more than real fighters based on their personalities/hype rather than in ring abilities.

Berto is getting the **** beaten out of him by the likes of Soto Karass.... The fact that he's making more than Mattyhsse is disgusting.
