He gets criticized regardless of who he picks. It's been like that since he's become a PPV star back in 2007. Outside of Manny Pacquiao, anyone Mayweather has fought was met with consistent criticism by his detractors.

    2 fights isn't exactly a winning streak.

There's a big difference in their size on fight night. Golovkin may weigh less by a few pounds but he's by no means smaller than Canelo on fight night.

But after Rios,Manny fought Bradley.who was undefeated top 5 P4P fighter.why you need tuneup after that?it's just excuse.

Floyd fought top5 P4P Pacquaio and after maybe Berto.

Sounds you are little bit biased towards Pacquaio.that's my take.

Nevertheless if this Berto fight happens.it will be horrible, free or not.just as pointless match as was Pacquaio vs Algieri.and that was on PPV.Absolutely disgusting

Honestly, I don't care who Floyd Mayweather fights next.

If it's Berto, okay. Yes, his record is 3-3 over his last six.

So is Manny's record over his last six (3-3).

Tim Bradley should be 2-3-1 over his last six (unless you scored for Tim against Pacquaio in fight one and for Tim against Provodnikov).

If he picks Berto, fine. He's a two-time welterweight champ (WBC and WBA). Whatever problems he had when he was losing to Guerero and Karass seem to be behind him. Berto's fights are always entertaining.

I don't think Berto will be a tough sell because it's easier to sell something that's FREE than it is to sell something that costs $100.

They won't have much competition. If it's on Sept. 12, the first full slate of NFL games doesn't begin until the next morning. All the major college football teams play that afternoon before the fight (good lead in to the bout).

Should be big numbers whoever he fights.

If Haymon is trying to launch Keith Thurman, it should be him, though.

Lol c'mon. Berto would have beat both those guys at any point in his career. Lopez and Chambers were not on his level at any point. Berto is a good fighter who just CHOKES.

I just can't see the comparison between Berto and Algieri here. I was not a huge fan of the Pacquiao-Algieri fight, but let's be honest here.

    - Algieri was 20-0 and a reigning WBO title holder when Pacquiao fought him
    - Berto is 3-3 in his last 6 fights, and currently holds a WBA interim belt

Mayweather vs Berto would not be a sellable fight on PPV, which is why you'd have to put it on free TV.

Berto has proven very beatable in recent bouts. That would seem to make him a mismatch type of opponent against an undefeated fighter such as Mayweather.

It's up to Mayweather and Haymon to make the fight they want. If they want to fight Berto, then that is what they'll do. But I would expect a fair share of criticism for them if that is the fight they choose.
