Andre Berto needs to utilize some feints.

I don't think i've seen Berto feint once in the Forbes fight. A guy with his hand speed should regularly feint just to keep people off guard.

And how about the jab. He seems to either throw the jab to score and seldom throws it to set up the right. He also never paws the jab just to show his opponent something different.

He's just way too predictable in his attack and relies way too much on his explosive combinations to get it done. It will work against lesser guys like Forbes but against the "elite", he will get KOed.

I hope his coaches correct his flaws because he's got the talent to do great things. PBF ain't got nothing on him when it comes to raw talent. But PBF used his mind along with his tools.

I don't know what he needs.

There are so many damn faults with this kid, and I don't if it's due to his arrogance or ignorance.

Either way, like you said his physical aspects, IE, HANDSPEED and POWER, are off the charts, but he doesn't utilize it to the best of his abilities.

Along with giving some feints, here are a list of other things he needs to work on.

    1) Go to the body more. Damn......stop being such a mother ****in head hunter. He ain't tall for the division, (shorter than Forbes), and he has the speed to let his hands go and put in work to the body before his opponent has time to get off.

    2) Don't stick your damn chin out when throwing punches. Against Estrada he showed a lot of heart, and that knockdown with Rivera was right on the button, so it's questionable whether or not he has a weak chin. One thing that is certain, when he got hit with Rivera his chin was straight out and that's something that's going to happen again if he doesn't correct this and keep his damn chin down.

    3) Stop trying to be so flashy with your defense, and use the defense that best attributes his bodytype. IE, sometimes he's got to put his damn hands up and win the fight on the inside where his height, reach, and body puts him in position to best win the fight.

    4) When you got a guy like Estrada coming right at you, BOX. You got the athleticism, but you need to get on your toes and move around more. Berto is an OFFENSE first fighter, but when you got a one dimensional straight foward type of guy with a chin coming at you, use angles and hit the guy with some punches that he doesn't see coming. That's where those FEINTS you were refering to would come in.

    5) Don't be so damn hesitant, but don't be reckless. You're main ATTRIBUTE is OFFENSE. USE that ****. I'm sure there are more, but for the time being, I just can't think of them.

Either way, I'm thinking that he might just be too damn arrogant for his own good. If he corrects those things with his game, he'll be champ one day, but if he doesn't he's done.

Personally, I think he needs new trainers because I don't see much improvement.

You are right with the feints. He has a very strong jab, but does not utilize it as much as he should. Better trainers is a good idea. He can be a force at WW, but if he does not improve, he is going to get KO'ed by guys like Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, and maybe Clottey. Clottey is slow so I would go after him for a unification. I have to admit, I really love speed and the way he throws that old Tyson combo.

His defense is almost non existent. I can't count the number of times he would literally jump in with no regards to covering up with the only concerns of getting off combinations.

Yeah, throw from different angles. He head hunts big time.

I wonder how quickly PBF catches Berto coming in flush with one of those check hooks and takes him out.

He's nowhere near as talented as Mayweather. Give that one up.

There is more to boxing than speed and flashy combinations. Defence, footwork, fight management etc are all talents too.

Berto to me looks like a flawed fighter than will wind up losing againt any of the best in the division.

Berto has absolutely no instinct to 'create.' It hasn't been showing as much recently, but there was a period where Berto was indicating overt signs of being utterly confused and confounded offensively. At this point he just seems to be content with sweeping the problem under the rug by committing to his "phfishing" sound effect combos even more, bouncing them off of shoulders and guard in almost careless fashion. Berto really seems to have no instinct at all finding his way inside the holes and openings - his timing can't even be gauged, because he just throws at the opponent hard and fast no matter what they seem to be doing.
