Berto was hurt no doubt. He tried to get up quick and stumbled back down again. Berto was saved by the bell, then helped out by his corner. That is infuriating, it was such obvious cheating ,to buy needed time.
:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl As soon as he hit the deck, this thread was DESTINED to be made!!
Nah man, his chin is fine. That was an unseen punch with good snap while he was totally comfortable and highly confident. The people here that want to believe he is not the goods will be pretty upset in the long run. Sure he can correct a couple things, but who can't. Personally, I'm still very high on Berto, especially the way he behaved after the knockdown. :smoke
You beat me to the punch. :yep I'm a bit concerned about the pair of whiskers Berto has, given the fact that Rivera is not a very big puncher.
Regardless, that WWF nonsense has no place in boxing. That is disgraceful, and took away from an obvious advantage for the other fighter. I am furious with his corner.
The kid got caught and went down. he was hurt, but more important is that he won the fight. Everyone is willing to write a fighter off or immediately call a chin grade a china after the first knockdown of his career. He got a little complacent in there and never saw the shot. I believe he has a good chin and I still expect many big things from Berto in the future.
Here we go again. Guys with solid chins don't hit the deck against light-hitting fighters. Like I said, too early to tell if it's glass, but it sure ain't "fine" either!:-(
I agree with what many others have said....Berto IS the real deal, excellent fighter with so many tools...He didnt SEE the punch Rivera hit him with...I agree, it was absolute BS that his corner tried to save him with the glove bs all of a sudden....With that said, he came out for the rest of the fight trying to take Rivera's head off....and it almost seems that Berto puts full power in every single shot he throws...he did it tongiht for 10 rounds! Great conditioning, definitely a future champ in my eyes...
One of those things he hadn't seen. A lot of times when we watch fighters move from orthodox to south paw, we see the fighter making the transition pay for not adjusting their own defense. This looked like something Berto hasn't seen and was caught by a punch he didn't expect or see from a particular angle which are the punches that tend to do the most dammage. I wouldn't say he has grade A china, could be one of those things he could learn from greatly. Also this is the type of fight that might show him and his trainers that mixing it up to the body could be a very good thing for his type of fighting. I'd love to see him convert to the type of fighter that commits heavy to the body early, seems like he will need to as he steps up in class.
