The fact that he couldn't finish this guy with that cut is awful. He wouldn't last against any of the top guys. :-(

I think all young fighters need a wake up call like this. If anything, he learned a lot from this fight. And is heading in the right direction. That is if he is able to fix the flaws in his game.

Who knows. A lot of AT'greats have fights in their resume that don't add up.

I don't think he took a step back. That depends on where you had him rated. If you had him rated as a prospect with lots of potential like I did, I saw it as him learning something new. Fighting a decent veteran in your first big fight....he did ok.

He needs to work on defense and not leaving himself open when he throws. He needs to work on going to the body. He also seems to have trouble with his footwork and needs to cut off the ring better....I don't think he can fight well going backwards.

But he is a prospect. He shouldn't be fighting the top guys for another couple of years. Remember, Rivera just had a split decision with another highly rated prospect in Julio.

Who was saying that? Crazy! Even had Berto stopped Rivera in round one, I'd bet my house on Cotto. Miguel Cotto is a wrecking machine, and it's going to take a hell of a lot of talent to stop him (ie Mayweather).

    Berto doesn't have Linares's poise.

Actually Berto took a giant step forward today, he learned more in this fight than all his previous fights combined.
