Just curious how you guys think this would play out...could Berto handle this step up in competition?

Quintana knocks Berto out ... I think Quintana has good defense and Berto doesn't ... Berto is very hittable and leaves himself open for alot of punishment.

    He's a KO in waiting ...

He doesn't have his own identity ... he trys to fight like Floyd too much instead of coming up with his own style.

He doesn't move well and doesn't seem to be that agile with the build that he has.

He also has very short arms ... I don't think that he can do anything ...

Here we go, differences in opinion already.

Berto, the athletic young prospect vs Quintana, the all-round southpaw who's been in the ring with Cotto.

    Let's hear it guys :D

The prospect will beat Quintana to active, love the uppercut and skills. As a result of A TKO. I can hear esb giving Smoochp aka the flyest1 the credit he deserves

Quintana will be the official gatekeeper of the welterweight division ... but so will Berto ... a former olympian with a world title on his resume, a suspect chin and defense, and limited skill.

Berto by early KO. He IMO has the most punching power in the division. He'll come out and trade shots with Quintana and both will land however Berto's overwhelming power will be too much. If PTP can get a first round stoppage against Quintnana (and both are southpaw) then Berto who's conventional can certainly get an early KO.

And don't don't see Mayweather throwing massive uppercuts do you?

Quintana by TKO at this moment in time. Berto is open and I think Quintana's movement will allow he to get inside and muscle up and land at will.

You say if Williams can TKO1 Quintana than Berto can, however Williams isn't as open as Berto and is a much better fighter at this moment in time. Berto doesn't have the huge reach either.

What power ... he doesn't have a guady KO ratio ... and he's not a one punch KO puncher and his punches don't carry that much weight ... he can break a fighter down by accumulation but nothing more.

Did you see Berto getting knocked down by Cosme Rivera ... trying to wing some bull****.

Don't forget styles make fights, even though Williams pulled off a fantastic KO victory over Carlos, we can't count him out. Williams is very awkward for a welterweight, stylewise and physical. I can understand why he's very hard to fight against.
Berto has small defense issues, and is probably easier to hit. If Quintana moves away from Berto's right hand and finds a way to connect his left he could win. I don't see him coming out on the bell brawling with Berto.

I believe the issue would be whether Quintana could use his legs for 12 rounds, which is what it would take for him to win. Even in Williams I, he faded during the middle portion of the fight and gave away rounds.

Quintana is much older than a lot of fans realize.
