Ben Tackie may not have Berto's natural athleticism, but he has experience. He's fought some of the bet5ter fighters in his weight. That should be looked at as well. Just because Tackie isn't as good as Berto might be does not mean that Berto automatically beats everyone he faced. That was also at 140. Reid was able to at least crack Ring's top ten @ 147 when Cintron beat him.

You're right about Mattysse. But that pretty much goes for all prospects until they step up. Same with Berto right now.

No, it doesn't make him better. My point with that comment was just to show looking spectacular against weak comp shold be takeninto consideration. Nothing more, nothing less.

I will say I agree with just about all of this. Hard not to. I just think it's a little pre-mature for Berto to be matched up this much after his level of competition. We really haven't seen him have to dig deep to win. We haven't seen what might happoen when he gets floored hard. Or see his own blood. His biggest scare was against Rivera. That's a statement right there. But hey, if proven wrong about Berto - Cintron, I sure would not complain. :D

Then you're statement is pointless. And I don't mean to say that as a dick or to insult you, as I swear I am not. If you stop giving a damn what idiots claim, or why their opinions don't really matter in the big pitcure, you'll see where I come from. :deal

I'd pick Quintana over Berto NOW, but with caution. Berto would be a bad choice for Quintana to fight on the heels of his devastating KO loss, but if he can get a couple decent wins back on the resume, than I'd choose him to take a decision over Berto.

When it comes to skill, Berto takes it hands down. Kermit always has that puncher's chance and more, and I don't believe that Berto doesn't have the chin to withstand his punches nor defensive skill to not get tagged. I can also see Berto taking this one if he is able to take Cintron's confidence away early.

But sadly, at the end, I see Cintron landing something flush that has enough power to cause the fight to go in favor of Cintron.

    Cintron via 6th rd KO

Cintron could beat Berto but he would only have the chance of beating him with a solid KO punch - He can't outbox Berto and he damn sure can't exchange with him. (he doesn't have enough speed)

Despite being KO'd by Margarito - I think that Cintron has a chin, but has terrible endurance.

Cintron has big trouble dealing with pressure fighters more so then anything else. Margarito was just a terrible style match up for him.

Berto is a good fighter but he doesn't exert that much pressure to put Cintron out of his comfort zone . . . so I'm leaning on Cintron at this point.

I want to see more of Berto.

Berto is way to fast for Cintron, that is the bottom line. The only way Cintron wins this is if he happens to catch Berto.

Considering Berto's height, reach, and tendency to keep his chin up, it's very likely Cintron would catch Berto.

The guy is fast, but with those short arms, he's going to have to go on the inside to land those combos. And when he does that, Cintron's going to land.

    I'll back up Cintron...
Kermit defo has boxing skills he just decides not to use them.
As is evident in his 5th and 6th round Vs. Margarito II after they established that their gameplan to K.O. Margo was ****!
Manny Steward told kermit to box and move,
he defo did that and very well but way way way too late.

Had Kermit decided to box instead of slug it could have been Cintron Vs. Cotto.
    [In July]

Can anyone actually say that Berto would have taken them shot's Margo took from Cintron? I say Hell No!.

Andre Berto by decision. I can see the speed bothering him a lot and also teh good power.

The Felliciano fight, despite Cintron winning, showed that just as much.

Berto by early stoppage. Berto's power, speed, and overall skill level would overwhelm that softy.

True, but lets be real: Margarito is a bad style match up for anyone from 147-154. Margarito is a beast, no shame in losing to him. Let's see Berto against a top-10, let alone a top-15 welterweight before he can beat guys like Cintron, Judah, Clottey, etc. Now that he has a belt, he better fight a top-10 ranked fighter in his next fight if he wants to prove his worth.

He obviously wasn't a terrible style match up for Paul Williams. I don't think Joshua Clottey found him to be terribly hard stylistically either.

He is a good fighter yes, and tough for anyone in the divsion. But he isn't a bad style match up for everyone, no way, just an overall good fighter.
