Apparently this fight will be the co-feature to Garcia vs Lipinets. A few years too late, but still in a intriguing crossroads fight, i favor Alexander.
There was a time when this was a HBO WCB main event status fight, maybe even a PPV co-main. Now, meh.
Not even. It's the undercooked pork egg foo yung that you sent back only to receive a new order that's no more cooked but now comes with loogies and the stench of Eastern farts.
Well, they were contenders. Devon was never too much of a thrill to watch (had his moments here and there), but Berto gets more than the basic measure of respect from me. He was too highly touted and overpaid, but he ended up giving us a bunch of action-packed TV fights (even if he did throttle the drama out of the second half of the first Ortiz bout). Fans can be quick to bring up his defeat to Jesus Soto Karass, but rarely do they note that he was one-armed for much of that fight, going out for round after round with only a left hand to hold his man off, putting up a tremendous show of guts and application to try to back up and stem the effective offense of the Sinaloa swarmer. I was never partial to Berto, but he made me salute him over the course of some really tough fights in which he earned his bread. He gave a decent, honest effort in his fight with Mayweather, too.
At the moment, I predict a close decision between them. I'm cool with the fight. Was hoping Alexander might end up with The Tree but Berto is nice and, really, better.
