Does Kirkland get a warmup fight after jail? I'd have to see how his warmup fight went... But to answer the question Kirkland.
They'd have to fight at 154 or not fight at all. I doubt Kirkland can get himself down to 147. At 154, he was built like a tank. That said, I think Kirkland beats him.
Berto has fought as high as 160 before. I highly doubt that Kirkland will be able to make 154 after being gone away that long, he was already a huge 154 pound fighter. So it would have to be at 160 or a catchweight over 154.
Whether Berto can fight effectively over 12 rounds at 154 would be something to behold. I'd have to side with Convict Kirkland here by a KO.
Both have been inactive as of late. Let's see how both Berto and Kirkland do in their warmup matches in December. After that I can give my opinion.
Even after a soft touch for Kirkland, I got Berto in this one. I think Kirkland eats jabs and gets outboxed.. Berto may even stop him later in the fight.
Kirkland was a machine and takes a good punch. Berto has the better amateur resume, but in the pros he might be alittle more talented than Kirkland, but I respect Berto because he's not afraid to fight guys larger than him. He does have some defensive flaws, but despite his power I don't know if that will be enough to beat Kirkland. It would be a close fight, but Kirkland wins. He always fights with an urgency to win and with hunger. This would be a fight where Berto would have to respect an opponents power and how he would deal with that because first mistake Berto makes and it's lights out for him. He'd get no mercy from Kirkland.
