Apparently there's talks of matching Andre Berto with IBF Champion Jan Zaveck for a fight possibly in July or August. This is according to FN.

Interesting fight. Zaveck is a pretty solid foe for Berto coming off a loss. I wouldn't mind seeing this one.

Berto just lost his belt. Let him get the winner of Zaveck/Bailey or something.

And also, does that mean Paulie got skipped over as a choice? I know he was angling to fight Zaveck.

It should be on the undercard of Ortiz-Aydin (winners to meet).

The US vs. European poster flaming will be out of control.

If berto gets a new corner and gets rid of the leeches on him and get serious again. He would mop this guy up with ease. A well train berto is a dangerous man. Last fight there was 4 people taking to him at one wft.

I see Berto's people know he's no longer at all relevant without a title. And by relevant I mean HBO won't throw cash at him for fights that sell less than a Jimmy Lange showcase in Fairfax, Virginia (he was one of the first round losers in the original Contender for those who don't know). Berto would actually struggle with Zaveck, but he's win and get the belt that keeps the money rolling in from a cable network bent on throwing money at fighters who are more interested in a paycheck than anything else.

I say why the hell not? Berto lost his title, but its not like he rolled over like a ***** doing it, he got clocked, he had no legs the rest of the fight but he never gave up, he almost took out ORtiz in round 6, he lost clearly but its not like the guy didn't make a fight out of it, this is what I want to see, guys willing to leave it all in the ring, he should be given another shot in my opinion. I think it would be a great step towards a ortiz/berto rematch that I think we all want to see.

    I would love/hate that. :!:

    I like the fight.

    Berto UD

I want Zaveck and Senchecko to mix it up frequently with top guys. I'd consider them legit opposition to ANY fighter.

make it happen...i think that would be best for Zaveck..just wonder if the fight would be in Slovenia or USA? In Slovenia it would be great crowd of 13k ppl.

Also would like to ask you if it is true that Berto got cheek broken in fight with Ortiz (or some other injury) and how much time needed to heal that?

Hmmm and what if Zaveck wins? Chance to fight Mosley or Pacman then?

This is great if berto wins, if a few weeks later mayweather beats ortiz we can have berto vs ortiz 2. If Ortiz wins he should fight pac next. Iw ould like to see bradley vs berto then.

This is a big fight for Berto, IMO. I expect Berto to win, but to be elite he is gonna have to get his **** together if he ever wants to compete with Pac, PBF or even Cotto. He has the heart and the athletic talent. With all the top talent from 140 moving up, Berto is gonna have plenty of options and all of them look like winnable fights but it starts with Zaveck.

Can someone explain how the hell does Berto get an immediate title shot after losing his belt?
