So is Haymon doing a thing with Spike now too?

I remember that's basically how the UFC got going.

Fwiw, I see Berto taking this, but only after taking some punishment

How do I love this? Let me count the ways:

    1. Berto vs. Lopez is explosive. Guaranteed two-way action. Enough said.
    2. Berto and Lopez need this. Neither can afford to lose. Desperation makes for good television (as if this needed help) and the winner finds himself deservedly back in the mix.
    3. Both are showing exemplary resiliency in bouncing back from rough patches (coincidentally for both following their run-ins with Ortiz) - Berto struggling with Zaveck before back to back losses to Guerrero & Soto Karass and since beginning to right the ship by dominating B-level Upsher Chambers; Lopez with back to back TKO losses to Canelo & Maidana before struggling with shot Arnaoutis, since beginning to right the ship by knocking out B-level Martinez - and deserve to have their steadfastness rewarded with exactly this kind of crossroads match-up. BONUS - 3A. they can both kind of piggyback off Victor Ortiz's name (with this being a match-up of his former opponents in exciting clashes) without needing to involve that loser or reward him with another undeserved chance.
    4. Boxing on nationally-televised basic cable??? Spike has the perfect demographic - young males - and it would be quite a coup if boxing could make inroads here, on the former home of the UFC. (though much of that Affliction-wearing, tribal-tat having, suburban white boy wannabe tough guy demographic will remain loyal to MMA with its content more tailored for their sensibilities, even with exposure to high-quality boxing :-()

agree 100%. I expect this to be fight of the year. Anytime these guys step in the ring it's arguably fight of the year. 2 guys who are fight of the year candidates should make for a FOTY.

    I got josesito.
