He needs to take his ass to a fitness gym and start working on those ****ing legs. Go practice on his foot work for about 3 months 6 days a week on his horrible foot work and balance. Get a new trainer and put in some gym work. He has been use to walking around as if he is this big time superstar. He isn't a gym rat and that might just be his biggest problem.
Past prime. Making horrible strategic moves to change what he did well and they're working against him. He has questionable punch resistance to go with bad stamina and a horrible frequency of clinching.
Nothing pleases me more than to see Haymon's guys eat **** and see those Watson Hyenas not whoopin' n hollerin like fkn jackals.
Nothing, NOTHING pleases me MORE, than to see an Al Haymon guy eat **** and to see the whoopin' 'n hollerin Watson Hyenas with their mouths SHUT. To see all the loser Olympic guys get stopped on the SAME card would be like xmas for me.
There are a lot of guys who couldn't have taken the shots Robert did, hence I see Berto continuing to ride the "good/great" fence. He's still got some fight in him. His conditioning was good, he showed a ton of heart, he caught a shitty break with his eye, and lost to a really good fighter. His primary problem is he hasn't found his identity/style, if he can ever decide how he is going to fight and devote his training to that style, he'll be ok.
He's just not in good shape come fight time. I don't think it's his chin. It's just when he gets hurt, he never recovers. Ortiz hurt him early, and he was fighting off the ropes with dead legs for the rest of the fight. Same thing in the Guerrero fight. He took some good shots from both guys, but when he gets hurt, his legs go. He needs a trainer who can work with his style and add some wrinkles. He's almost 30. He's not going to make dramatic changes, but a guy who can work with what he has would be great. Ronnie Shields is a perfect guy. He's trained every style with very solid success.
