Poor observatonal skills, sir. Berto's got pedigree. He may surprise you. I'd love to see him in against Judah. That ought to really tell the tale.
Well one of the main questions surrounding Berto is his chin which means that a fight with the light-hitting Collazo would only perpetuate those questions.
Pedigree? He has speed and power, lacks defense, the ability to cut off the ring, footwork(aside from the occasional in and out movement while playing mouse with one of his corpse opponents), and from what I understand, reports in the gym even prior to his KD against Rivera talked of him getting downed by sparring partners on seperate occasions. Far from elite, I would've(and did) picked someone like Quintana to beat him even prior to Quintana's win over Williams. Clottey(although overrated himself) would likely give him a boxing lesson. He'll be exposed soon enough when they decide to stop feeding him streetsweepers. Street cred doesn't make you an elite fighter.
Correct Sweet Pea. Lacy looked fantastic against stiffs as well, and was far from one-dimensional against them. When he stepped up, he couldn't adapt. I don't dislike the guy, I like watching him fight, it's just something seems off, we'll see in his next few fights, but I'm predicting doom.
The reports in the gym are not true unless they happened somewhere besides his gym in WinterHaven (unless its been since i've moved to Ohio January 07) I've seen him spar a ton and never seen him dropped, i've seen him stunned but not dropped. Maybe at another training facility unsure about that
I for one am an Andre Berto believer! He's got the goods to one day sit atop of the ww division. IMO he's the hardest hitter welter with EXCEPTIONAL speed. People are quick to criticize his defense, or lack there of but I think he tends to box to the level of his competion which has been average at best. I think he is ready to FIGHT and WIN against the 2nd tier welters such as Judah, Cintron, Quintana, and Paul Williams. Now if the rumors are true about a fight against Clottey then I would have favor Clottey who to me underrated. Hopefully the jump in competition wont be as dramatic as a fight agianst Clottey, but in a year or two I don't see ANYONE in the division who can stand in his way.
I agree. Iv been hoping for a fight against Judah ever since Berto beat Estrada. Its time for him to step up his level of competition and Judah's name and record would be ideal. We'll see how he handles himself against a guy with exceptional speed if this fight should ever happin.
