Ricans? Berto will possibly beat Collazo and Quintana, but Cintron will catch him. By the time Berto makes any noise, Cotto will be possibly fighting at 154. Collazo then Mosley would make more sense.

I have heard of him and he is ranked, but I have yet to see him fight. You have a point that eveybody keeps throwing in the same names over and over. There are others in the top ten that need a chance to be recognized and given a shot. Berto skipped, hopped, and jumped into the WBC title fight. How he was rated #1 is still a mystery.

thats it , hé is current ebu champ and has defended his title 5 times , he is not protected and did have to go to russia to knock out krivolapov for as far i remember some guys did not ever returned to the ring after they feelt jacksons punch , i admit hé is a warrior and not a technician , but his punch is fear for some of them , like trabbant never wanted to fight jackson , if the world wants a elimination fight with callazo they will see what jackson is all about

I see a similar path to Manny Pacquiao who is dubbed the Mexican assassin. Berto will be the Puerto Rican assassin but I do not think he will make it against Cotto. Miguel is too good right now and will be a year from now...pending the result of his fight with Margarito on July 26th. If anything, Cotto may want to unify the titles and maybe move up to junior middleweight soon. We'll see but Cotto is definitely the king of the welterweight division after Mayweather's retirement.

Yeah I don't really mean he should fight EVERY guy that I was thinking. But a couple of them could work to really get his foot in the door for fighting Cotto. There is no way a Berto vs Cotto fight wouldn't be made if Berto took out at least 2 of those B level puerto rican fighters. I think it would be pretty cool if he could pull a nice bait like that for Cotto.

I'd be rooting for Cotto to win definitely. But for Berto's sake and career, right about now Miguel Cotto is the best thing he could ever put on his resume. So at least in that perspective this isn't such a bad idea. If he took on 2-3 decent fights he would be as ready as he'd ever be for Miguel Cotto. And if he looked impressive in his next fights (if they were decent opposition) Than I wouldn't doubt having people around here running their mouths on how they think Berto would KTFO Cotto .

No doubt. I think Berto/Williams would be a very interesting matchup, not quite sure who I favor there
