so far seems like hes done NOTHING, for a young champ like him he should be taking on anybody and calling out big names to make his own and be the young champ who be "ect." and be a house hold name

Mosley was the most logical choice but that option is looking less likely so now would be the perfect time to rematch Collazo, if Collazo can still make weight. The first fight was close(I had Berto winning) and very entertaining. That fight will hang over Berto if he never rematches him and since both guys have open schedules and few options then now is a great time for a rematch. It would favor Berto as well since Collazo has been so inactive.

Cintron is a solid option if he can still make welterweight and Bradley would be a great choice for Berto since I think Bradley should really stick to 140. I wouldn't mind a unification with Aydin coming off since both guys were talked about fighting a year or so ago and they match up very well together. I think we won't be so lucky and get Berto taking on a lesser opponent next someone like Gomez, Bailey, Rodriguez or someone on that level when its all said and done.

unfortunately Berto's name probably isn't big enough to get an Elite fighter i.e Cotto, Mayweather or Pacquiao

unless big fights fall through such as Pac-Floyd, or Cotto-Margarito 2. and last I heard Collazo is going to Super Welter

as close as Berto-Collazo was (1 point on two scorecards) I really don't think it'll hang over Berto too much simply because Collazo's made a reputation on losing to the best guys he's faced (Mosley, Hatton, Berto)

and Berto probably has bigger fish to fry (if he can't get Pac/Floyd/Cotto) .. maybe fight either Margarito/Mosley?

or he could take on a contender ranked high in the WBC and wait out the big names.

    Berto is progressing fine.

He has stepped up when he needed to, and eventually, in a year or 2, he'll be ready to stomp PBF.

    Berto KO Floyd 6.

    In 2012 that is.

Sounds like HBO is pushing for him to fight Mosley or Mike Jones. I've also heard he might try to get the Zaveck-Jackiewicz winner in a unification fight. I suspect he'll end up fighting a relative scrub though. He doesn't have a whole lot of options, especially if Mosley fights Mora. Jones isn't enough of a name and is too dangerous, so there's no way his team takes that one.

Someone a little less dangerous who I'd love to see get a shot though is Antwone Smith. And he's also a DiBella fighter, so it's an easier fight to make.

Depending on how the rest of the chips fall, I also wouldn't be shocked to see Berto-Williams. Williams says he wants to fight at 147 next. And Williams has shown some really big holes in his defense lately. If Berto thinks he can exploit them, that would be a smart move and a fight HBO would definitely buy.

Berto-Cotto should be next at 147. If not that then Berto-mosley would be great as well.

Rematch with collazo. I thought collazo had won that fight. If I'm not mistaken 1 of the judges had berto very unfairly ahead winning almost all the rounds? I don't think it was robeery it could've gone either way but I thought collazo did enough to win it.

I thought Collazo won but I feel it was sort of a fluke like Berto wins 9 out of 10 times and that was Collazo's 1 he just didnt get help from the judges

rather berto vs Floyd or Shane or Clottey or Judah or Paacquio

Well if Collazo wanted help from the judges .. he shouldn't of taken off rounds in the fight.

and factor that ^ with Berto winning the last two rounds (even on Lederman's scorecard)

I don't care what Collazo backers say, but look at the later rounds in the fight (7, 8, 11, 12) and Luis only has himself to blame .. he's being less active and letting Berto take charge, etc

especially with Berto being deducted a point for holding in an earlier round, you'd have to think Collazo was well on his way to winning, and becoming new champ but by doing what I said above (underlined) Collazo blew a golden opportunity. You can't blame the judges for that

For all of the Collazo rematch supporters, HBO essentially killed any chances of a Berto-Collazo rematch last year when they offered less money than what they paid for their first first.

HBO also flopped in how they reportedly offered Berto less money to fight Mosley than what they paid for his fight against Quintana.
