Alot of fights result in a concussion even if the "concussee" isn't knocked out, I have no doubt that he was hurt and felt maybe unable to continue at an optimal level which is fair enough, but the delayed reaction trip to la la land was not a genuine sign of being sparked out.
And just as a point of reference I watched an 8 man last man standing Muay Thai tournament tonight where one of the pre-lim WINNERS wasn't able to continue on to the semi-finals because the ringside doctors diagnosed him with a concussion post fight.
I don't think Dirrell clearly won the Froch fight. I think he could have won. That is what it looked like. And that is also the reason why Ward should be rated higher than Dirrell t present. I do think that Dirrell actually has better natural abilities (such as speed etc.) but Ward is far more mature as a fighter. Dirrell losing to Froch in a fight he fought completely wrong shows the inexperience of Dirrell. However, that being said - Ward should hope that Dirrell hasn't matured too much more from the AA fight.
You are joking surely? Unless of course you favour constant headbutting over actual boxing. Dirrell is so far superior to Ward it isn't even funny.
i don't if dirrell, hug, ran all night but the fact is this that he outboxed Froch, overlanded him by 10-1. I only saw 5 clean shots from froch when he fought dirrell so tell me that dirrell didn't get rooked that fight. All hatton's wins are hugged and fouled. Is ok for Hatton to hug his way to victory but dirrell can't. Is ok for Calderon to run his way to victory but dirrell can't. Hatton hugs as a main weapon.
dirrell is more talented but ward is smarter. Ward knows how to rough things up and make it ugly. is a toss up when they fight but dirrell got an uphill battle to win the tourny bc he got robbed.
Dirrell is more stronger mentally than we think. To stick with his gameplan getting in and out with Abraham was just beautiful and I didn't think he would win that easy prior to the fight but he was slowing down very late in the fight but I still think he would've won anyways. It's unfortunate that two of his fights back-to-back end in controversy but I think he'll recover. Honestly, first hearing about this tournament I wasn't sure Ward & Dirrell could compete at that level but boy did they prove me wrong! Seeing more of Dirrell has made me a fan of his inside & outside the ring, he's a lovable guy.
... I don't know about far superoir ... ward is just as smart or smarter than dirrell ... dirrell is a bit faster and stronger but I think ward is in better condition ... and I fundamentally more solid ... dirrell does some dumb things like back up with his hands down and he tends to waste punches is his foe is hurt ... punches @ the gloves a lot ... I like dirrell more than I like ward but there not too far from 1 another overall
I had DIrrell clearly beating Froch and obviously he got the Abraham DQ (no he wasnt acting). BUT in both fights he's shown a lack of ability to fight on the inside and thats why he dives to the floor, even though Abraham fouled, he shouldn't have been purposely falling to the floor like that, the ref should dock him points when he dives to the floor, or even count it as a knock down. I know its technically not a KD but hes cheating and he paid a price for it. So because of this Ward should walk Dirrell down and beat his ass at mid range. If Dirrell can beat Ward though, he's the new top dog
I dont think he falls on purpose I just think he has bad balance. Once he improvess that, he'll be a true threat.
I think if he managed to get through he'd do very well for himself. He's unquestionably one of the most talented guys in there. The problem is after the 'loss' against Froch, he is a doubt to get through. If he loses to Ward - which is a possibility - he's ****ed. He and Froch will both be on 2 points - assuming he loses to Abraham in a best case scenario for Dirrell - and he will go out on a H2H basis because of that dropped decision to Carl.
I agree that Dirrell should be above Ward, and i think he will beat Ward! But imo he is not the favorite to win the tournament.. Not yet!
IMO Ward is still a bit overated...The kessler he fought in the oracle, was a kessler having a very bad night! And ward fought the best fight of his life, and has all the "luck" too, with the referee...I dont know much about Green, but for what i have seen,i think Green might Knock Ward out.. But when i compare Ward with Dirrell,i think dirrel has faster hands, better footwork, and punches harder too..The only problem with Dirrel is his mental strength. He seems to loose it a little bit,and panic when he feel he is under pressure...But i dont think Ward is cabable of intimidade Dirrel...So Dirrell will get far in the S6.... And i am no fan of Dirrell,ABSOLUTLY not!
That's my point. Ward isn't going to really hurt Dirrell with his punching cuz he's slightly feather-fisted, and I don't think he's fast enough to beat Dirrell to the punch like he did with Kessler. He's got problems in his fight against Dirrell, I'm sure AD has a reach advantage since Ward has such a short reach for his height, and AD floored AA so I'm sure he can make Ward eat canvas too. The thing is will the headbutts shake him?
