Can not find any information on this but was wondering if Golovkin ever sparred Dirrel at Big Bear...I know they fought twice in the Amatures with both winning 1 each but can not find anything on them Sparring...Did it happen.?

They fought twice in the amateurs. Dirrell won their first meeting in a very close match that could have been scored either way--meaning one couldn't argue with either guy winning. I believe it was a US/Kazakstan exhibition held in the U.S. Their second meeting was in the Olympics. Golovkin won this match more convincingly capturing the silver medal and Dirrell taking bronze. Andre Dirrell does get to say he is one of only 5 losses Golovkin suffered in over 375 fights. That's pretty good bragging rights. It would be a great fight if they were to fight today. Maybe they will eventually.
Random side note, but ive been seeing that his amature record is probably a myth. I believe there are at least 6 independently sourced losses with some sources saying as high as 8. Splitting hairs though.
The am's are strange sometimes in what is tallied as an official fight. I don't doubt that most everyone's amateur records can vary from record keeper to record keeper, including Golovkin's. Still, I'd say 8 losses in 350 fights isn't bad at all.
Dirrell said in a recent interview that he didn't notice Golovkin having much power in their two fights, but acknowledges that his power in the pro ranks is amazing. I think Golovkin was more of a boxer in the amateurs and now he has really figured out how to hurt people. Different scoring system and a longer fight changes his game.
I think Golovkin has always had natural power, but he's improved his punching technique in the pros making him an even harder puncher. I believe Golovkin had a 50-60% KO rate in the am's so he definitely had some power there, but he did box a lot more than he does in the pros. It could be that Dirrell is just such a good mover that Golovkin never got him with flush shots in their fights. Dirrell is one of the slicker boxers.
The only independently sourced record I can find for Golovkin (where fights can be verified) had him at 40 something and 8. Obviously, that's an incomplete record, but Im just saying, I used to cite his amature record but Im not going to anymore. That has pretty much been proven wrong and its next to impossible to know what his actual record really is. Nobody even knows where that record even started. anyways, its neither here nor there. His amature credentials that are available (dirrel fight, bute fight, ect, Olympic medal) speak for themselves.
The right hand he felled Bute with was a peach of a shot. Bute did well to get up from it so quickly. 2:53 [YT]bLaNwWP95jA[/YT]
I have a contact I might be able to get some info from, or at least tell me where to look. We at least know he was a world am champion in 2003, I think it was, and an Olympic silver medalist. He may have won some regional games, as well. He was in the am's for a long time, so 350 fights isn't far fetched. As to his loses, maybe I can find some more info.
I tend to agree..but this was the worst decision ever made both Amature and Professional.!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJYBV9BXQNY
