That had to be the worst ever, no question.

On a side note: A poster recently claimed Golovkin has an amateur win over Anthony Dirrell. Can anyone confirm this? I had never heard this before.

I thought the rematch was very close as well.

He looked faster in the amateurs.
Now his punches are a bit slower but much more powerful.
And he is 32 and a bit bigger than he used to.

The duel, their first meeting, which took place in the US, was 15-14 Dirrell. The Olympics was 23-18 Golovkin.

I thought both matches were close, but Dirrell was clearly frustrated, and couldn't find an edge.

When you watch those fights, you can SEE all of Dirrel's qualities, He is tall with good reach, super athletic, fast, very mobile, and he is slicker than hot grease.

Golovkin's traits are much harder to see, he has amazing balance, perfect timing, sets up his counters, and deflects or rolls away from the shots.

Today, people can see Golovkin's power, but they don't see that his boxing skills are really top shelf also.

    I agree.

You're spot on in that it's tough for the untrained eye to spot everything Golovkin is doing. He's subtle and economical, and his defensive moves are split second timing so they happen fast and are most easily seen in slow motion replays. Also, the HBO narrative doesn't help in educating fans because it's more dramatic for them to say that he's all power and just walks through his opponents' shots with an iron chin like Superman, when the fact is nothing is landing cleanly and he uses some very advanced control on his opponents.

I think a fight between Dirrell and Golovkin in the pros would be great. They need to make the rubber match happen one day.

Dirrell would start lookng for a way out as soon as GGG started dialing in his punches just like with Abraham only much sooner.

I seen the olympic fight and I actually gave it to dirrell, really close but I thought he won. Watching the fight though made me think that golovkin would defiantely win in a pro fight. The style would just suit him down to the ground he would eventually nail dirrell with something he couldnt come back from
