In the future, sure. But right now?, it's pointless. Dirrell needs to do more out there to make this fight significant.

This is an intriguing fight, more competitive than some might think. Ward has been shockingly inactive.

Dirrell has to get past Degale first

His brother Anthony also has to beat . . . . Badou jack then of course honor his mandatory against George Groves

So were looking at end of the year / early 2016 for these fights

Dirrell / Ward would be interesting though considering they were originally supposed to fight in the super six

My post is on both Dirrels. Anthony is a titleholder and after he won it Ward said he wouldn't fight him. Andre has beaten a top 10 fighter recently Ward hasn't but I agree he does need to do more and he has Degale coming up. But it's not like Ward has been doing a whole lot.

When you look at the current top 10 SMWs both Andre and Anthony are in the top 10 and are more deserving than the others. Who else at SMW has been doing anything significant? Ward tried to get fights with Sartison, Perbian( after Degale beat him already) and Oostuivien who isn't a SMW anymore. JCCJR and Sturm are top 10 without having beat any top SMWs. Sturm drew with Steilgitz and Steilgitz only fights in AAs special little division.

Would be cool to see a Anthony Dirrel/Degale grudge match!

If Anthony beats Groves that is otherwise Degale/Groves grudge match. Anthony has a sneaky right hand that doesn't look like he really sits down on too much that also knocked down and stunned the very durable Bika. He could put out someone like Groves with that shot. I think Groves has the better boxing ability and is more talented but he hasn't looked as good as he did before Froch.

Degale could try to get AA but I doubt AA is interested in unifying he seems to be in his own division apparently and doesn't want to unify.

Why do you think Ward vacated the belt. When Anthony became his mandatory Anthony was calling out Ward and Ward kept telling him he has to sit down and think and to wait and see. Then Ward vacated and said no one wants the fight but we wanted the Rodriguez fight? Anthony was calling Ward out!

I remember Ward being stripped of the WBC title from inactivity. In any case, Ward vs Anthony is a perfectly acceptable fight and should happen. Andre Dirrell is also a great fight, but after Andre beats DeGale.

If Ward has no intention on fighting either one, then he should just move up

I completely agree with your assessment except yea he did vacate. If the 4 champs are Ward, Dirrel, Dirrel, and AA there aren't going to be any unification bouts anytime soon.

Andre is a talented fighter and he can become something special but only if he lives up to that potential and takes on the best in his division or the next.

I'm sorry he was stripped but they named him Emeritus Champion and he vacated that.
I think he saw Anthony as high risk/low reward.

Edit: From what I read looking it up WBC wanted Ward to fight Anthony Dirrel but he wouldn't so they stripped him. He was talking about vacating anyway instead of fighting Dirrel.

yeah if he doesn't fight the two of them, then who is left for him to fight other than Froch II and GGG? There are some other guys like Ramirez, but really nobody will challenge him like the Dirrell brothers are 168.

Check out my edit and link above.

I think Ward does want a GGG fight but doesn't want to fight either Dirrel too risky and not enough reward. He also mentioned recently about not moving up so I don't have a damn clue what he plans on doing...

I can't see the second Froch fight being any different. Maybe Degale will get past Andre and we can see some interesting fights off that otherwise this division is going to be full of champs eating cans.

Agreed. While probably more physically gifted (speed, power, etc) his ring IQ and mental toughness is nowhere near Ward's from what I've seen.

Hopefully he has grown since then. It's sad while talented his less talented title brother was able to capture a title before him with far less tools but an abundance of mental strength.
