So true. These people are not fans of the sport.

They have never laced up gloves and felt what it is like to not be able focus your eyes for a week after hard sparring. To not be able to concentrate.

They sit their sorry butts on the sidelines and call men risking it all cowards.

Come on man. All boxers choose to tell a lie that would scare the hell out of boxing commissions in the states and almost certainly put their entire career in jeopardy when trying to get out of a single fight.

Boxing. With "fans" like this (that guy) who needs enemies...

Except those can be proven or disproven. If Dirrell is saying he's dizzy, you can't disprove that.

It depends how you view it. Let's assume for a minute that Dirrell knows Ward has his number, then consider the two outcomes of whether he fights or not.

He fights and loses to Ward. He is out of the Super 6 and after two losses, one where he looked awful, and one win, where the fight ended with him being knocked out. Where does he go from here? Showtime wouldn't be interested, HBO wouldn't. What are his options? Undercard fights for the next 2-3 years? He isn't marketable, so he'd struggle to get a title shot given his style and lack of TV appeal.

He doesn't fight and leaves the Super 6 record with a 1-1 record and a justifiable reason to get out. He sits in the sidelines for a few months, has tests done and cones back. He's immediately marketable because he has a story, the brain injury. He creates news and that news is his ticket to a title shot.

    Which is the better option?

No it doesn't. Even making your assumption. Stating you have symptoms that will make any commission wary of licensing you (except maybe Texas) is completely insane.

So what if he loses to Ward? He can still spank most of the top 10 MWs. Also, his style of being a boxer is prone to "mature". He is many times more marketable than Ward. Most of the boxing public feels he beat Froch. He definitely beat Abraham. He is a flashy boxer with a gift for gab. Sound like anyone you know? You have no idea what you are talking about in marketability.

It makes PERFECT sense for him to duck out of the Super 6. It makes literally NO SENSE to duck out under the shadow of PUGILISTIC DEMENTIA! See the difference? Are you insane? When in the hell has having a brain injury made a fighter more marketable? When? How did the "brain" thing work out for Valero?

    You are lost man.

That's utter bull****. You don't know what the **** you're talking about.

Symptoms of brain trauma are highly unpredictable and one of the most difficult diagnosis in medicine.

The one diagnosis I can make with you is you obviously have an agenda that seeks to ignore medical reality.

No, it wouldn't. Commissions are only going o be interested if there is a medical reason why a fighter cannot fight. If they are medically cleared, they will be passed.

Dirrell is not marketable. For one, his style is awful to watch and, unlike Floyd, he doesn't have charisma. I'm not a Mayweather fan but he has far more charisma than any other boxer out there and it's not even close. Plenty of boxers have loud mouths but don't draw. Dirrell is not and will never be marketable.

And, yeah, a loss to Ward doesn't mean much to us fans but you think either Showtime or HBO will go near a guy who had absolute dire stinkers against Stevens and Froch, had 2 losses and one dubious win? He isn't a puncher, has an awful personality and isn't good enough to beat most elite fighters? Look at who else is out there for Showtime and HBO. He's the last person either network would endorse out of the top 168lbers.
Nobody cared. It was an issue and it got him headlines but as soon as he was cleared, absolutely nobody mentioned it. It just gave him press and column inches before he got his licence, which was good publicity, then everyone forgot.

If Dirrells not fighting Ward its because they are boys not becuase he thinks he has his number. If this was the case Ward would say Dirrells ducking him. Obviously thats not the case, either they are boys and dont want to fight eachother or Dirrells injury is legit.

Dont worry, if Dirrells fine he'll be around long enough to make another Brit look like a caveman.

Ward wasn't the one who pulled out though. Why would they both go into a tournament that they were both fighting in with the likely possibility they would be matched up if they didn't want to fight each other?

Which is why I dont think Dirrell is lying about his symptoms. Dirrell fought power punchers in Abraham and Froch, and he's going to be scared to fight a relatively light puncher in Ward who's he's sparred with a bunch of times?

    Nah.

Um yes it would. So pugulistic dementia isn't a reason? Please. He will be fighting in backwater venues just like Meldrick Taylor did.

Not marketable? Are you serious? Dirrell is nice looking, well spoken, sharp witted, and flashy pure boxer. He just got on the (inter)national scene because the organizers thought they had two green chumps in Dirrell and Ward. If he is healthy, trust you will see more of his "charisma". Style? He is a pure boxer. I guess Mayweather, Whittaker, and Caballero aren't marketable either stylistically? Dirrell has all the tools to become a boxing superstar.

What? The Froch fight wasn't a stinker unless you count the officiating. Dirrell has grown and showed as much in the AA fight. Dubios win? He kicked AA's can the whole fight! Awful personality? What do you know of him? Nothing. Most elite fighters? He beat Froch. Who would beat him? AA? Nope. "Long Count" Bute? Nope. Kessler? Nope. The only person who is favored to beat him now is his childhood friend Ward. Dirrell was a nobody coming into this tournament. If his health checks out HBO and Showtime will take notice.

Are you kidding me? Do you see where Valero was fighting? In places KNOWN for crap commissions. Do you know where the financial mecca of boxing is? Do you know where the 2, 3, 4 place venues are? Valero couldn't get licensed by any of their commissions.

Seriously man your transparent pro-brawler bias just makes you just look more and more ignorant as you clutch at straws. When you understand the difference between "fighting" and "boxing" much of this might make sense to you.

Abraham gave him a reason/excuse that a lot of the boxing public will hook onto (just check some of these threads, "it was AA's punch!!")

As for the nature of the injury, what does it matter? It's Dirrells own doctor so he can say whatever he likes, back injury, hand injury, brain injury, whatever, when no independent doctors are involved it gives Dirrells team a window to state whatever they choose!!

If there are real neurological issues why did Dirrell get the all clear directly after the AA fight? Why has there been no reports of Dirrell having issues for 6 1/2 months? I still haven't received a good response to those questions.

I don't think anybody is arguing that he'd be scared of Ward's punching power when he's been in with arguable the two biggest hitters in the tournament, but more in terms of taking a loss and what they would do for his career.

I'm not saying he's lying, but it does look a little suspicious when it's taken this long for it to come out, he's passed tests before and it's conveniently around the time that he doesn't want to fight Ward for whatever reason.

I hope he is lying though because it would suck if his career had to end at this stage. As much as I'm not a fan of him that much as a person, it would be tragic if a talented fighters career had to end this prematurely.

Nuerological issues are hard to diagnose and symptoms can manifest at anytime. It has been repeatedly said throughout the thread. You apparently cant decipher words.

I dont think a loss to Ward would mean much. It'd merely mean he'd have to take like 3 or 4 fights against bums to get his ranking back up. Infact a loss to Ward would actually put him inline to fight Bute because he'd be out of the tournament and Bute would probably jump at the chance to fight a guy he thinks he can beat.

What tests has he passed? The only tests he had were the ones immediately after the fight that showed no perminant scarring, Symptoms could occur much later

    Agreed.
