Dirrell has always said he wants to fight. He never wanted to quit, but the doctor wouldn't let him go on. I do think it's odd that we didn't hear anything from the doctor, only Dirrell and his family.

Bute's fans are not whining, they are defending Bute against people saying he is ducking. I'm sure you're able to see the difference. Bute could have faced Pascal, but taking weight and losing it is not necessarily a good idea. Look at Pavlik. How went his career at MW after he fought Hopkins at 170? Jones jr after his HW experience? Mundine being beaten by a nobody at 154?

It is possible but very risky to play yoyo with your weight. If not, Pascal would have offered to fight Bute at 168 and believe me, he never did.

You also have to consider the way the super 6 evolved if you want to be honest. When Bute's promoter said no to a Pascal fight, Bute had a fight against Brinkley, then a couple of super 6 fighters seemed to be available.
Why? Because everybody thought that Showtime was letting the third stage of group 1 down and going into the semi-finals straight. That means that 2 of the losers would be available right now (Abraham and Green). The final would be next May. Not a good timing to change of category.

Bute team couldn't know in advance that the super 6 would be so long. Bute got screwed in it.

The ref wasted the clock, not allowing Andrade to attack Bute.

Plus, most refs would have stopped the fight. He looked like there was something seriously wrong with him. (I think Bute should have lost that fight, but I do think something was wrong with him in the last round. They claim food poisoning, but it didn't look like food poisoning to me. He looked drugged, the way he was moving.)

I don't think Bute touched the canvas before there was less than 10 seconds remaining actually.

It is possible that other referees would have stopped the fight as you say though. Bute was out on his feet.

Just a small correction. If there had been no GS 3 the fighters out would have been Kessler, Dirrell and Green. The 2 first with injuries (allegedly) and Green would be out because he didn't belong at this level.

It's possible that you have a point in the weight issue although there's no scientific evidence. Also Mundine has gone down 2 weightclasses (and he's a jerk) and my take on Jones jr. is that roids played a major part in his rise in weight and he had to shed the weight in a very short time. Pavlik? Well he was likely an alcoholic when he fought Hopkins.

Some refs would have stopped the fight, others not. Marlon Wright is a former boxer. He knew Bute's health was not in danger. He knew it was fatigue.

And guess what? What happened next proved he was right. Bute did an interview on the ring right after the fight. The ref was right but people like you still complain he could have stopped the fight. Well, what happened proved he would have been wrong to stop the fight. Words like could and if won't change that.

Dirrell is more proven than Bute. Arguably beat Froch and schooled Abraham. I don't understand why people feel this is a walk in the park for Bute? Do you people even study styles? Or do you vote based on who you like more? Dirrell matches up extremely well with Bute and will absolutely own him from the outside. A slow and limited plodder like Andrade landed on him like rain on a tin roof, had him on ***** street out on his feet and he was saved by a crooked ref. I think Dirrell would actually outbox Bute to a UD win.
