Isn't moving off the ropes with arms raised a good way to avoid running into a hook? If not then what is the proper way?
keeping your hands in front of your face when you're in front of the ropes is generally a really good idea outboxer theory usually would recommend a left hook while circling out to escape from ropes or the corner(ex. floyd pooping in hatton's mouth).
I'm a fan of Dirrell & Ward so I have what you may call an obligation to be in this thread lol. You covered Dirrell pretty well but with Ward he does fight much more technically-sound than Dirrell but he has his flaws aswell just not as much as Dirrell. I've noticed that he tends to paw though his jab isn't too bad.
Dirrell is better than some people think. He did better in this tournament so far than I thought he would and made me a fan. Ward did too though I knew he would be a force after beating Kessler.
I think A.D. has a pretty decent ring I.Q, he slips punches pretty well, and he knows how to fall down when he's in trouble, he also hugs very well. If Jermaine Taylor knew how to due any of the above he probably could've withstood Pavliks onslaught in their first fight and avoid being knocked out by Froch and Abraham. So I guess that means he's at least smarter than J.T.
Id say its above average but not great ... makes a couple of fundamental mistakes but is still solid fundamentally .. he knows how to use the whole ring but some times gets away with his hands way up ... he is a slick fighter but tends to back up with his hands down and often gets hit with punches the wouldn't have landed if his hand was up .. he is obviously a thinker in there .. but no doubt about it he is very gifted ... If u take dirrells physical attibutes and use wards iq and combine em ... ull have an all time great Not saying that they won't be because the potential is there.. not saying that ward isn't fast or doesn't have pop ... but dirrell is more gifted than ward and ward has a higher iq ... combine them both and that man is a beast
With more experience I think he'll be a smarter more technically developed fighter but will it be too soon before something bad happens.
True true !!! His ring IQ is amazing ... quite rare. How many fighters have you seen winning fights like this..huh ? Not that many. :yep
Extremely low. When he's got so much attributes over his opponent (Froch) but doesn't clearly dominate him due to being afraid of engaging, there is an issue.
It consists of "Holy ****, he's trying to hit me, gotta run, gotta run, gotta keep running, ahhhh dammit he's getting too close gotta hug him, gotta squeeze myself up against him and feel him up, ahhhh yeahhh, this is more like it--AWWWWW man, he punched me in the head! y'all see him just punch me in the head while I was hugging him?! the ****, man! This is BOXING, not fighting! Jesus. Gotta run, gotta run, gotta keep running..."
Dirrell is still improving but he's a fighter thats gaining confidence fast and therefore throwing about everytime he makes people miss, which he happens to do better than anyone to lace em up. Watching his progression throughout the tourney has been eyeopening and enjoyable. After the beatdown Dirrell hands Ward many will state Dirrells boxing IQ at 140. He's Mr. ****ing Wizard so get over it people!!!!
Hardy har har. I am a fan of both but the fight will most likely be a technical fight that'll go the distance. Of course most casual fans won't like it but purists such as I should be fine with it.
