    Andre Dirrell vs Andre Ward

    This was supposed to have happenend a while ago during the S6, but I read a venue wasnt agreed, then the fight was cancelled with Dirrell dropping out of the S6.

    If Ward needs another tune up after Smith, how about Andre Dirrell?
    I cant recall Ward fighting a boxer mover and fighting Andre Dirrell would possibly be a good match up for him and against a fighter who is not faded in my opinion. Sure Dirrell may not be the same coming off a loss, but it would be a good step up for ward.

    I could see a scenario for either winning

    Would be interesting, many US fans wouldn't be a fan of this match up tho as the loser would most likely become irrelevant, and we don't want less american boxers irrelevant right now, as there isn,t that many US champs at the moment.

    I understand what you are saying. Problem is, how can Wad be called the champ for not fighting? Thats like saying Calzaghe is still SMW champ.
    Its a shame as in the UK, when there has been world class SMWs in the same division, they tend to get matched ie
    Eubank/Benn, Eubank/Wharton, Benn/Wharton, Reid/Wharton, Calzaghe/Reid, Calzaghe/Woodhall, Calzaghe/Starie, Woodhall/Catley, Reid/Magee, Froch/Magee, Froch/Groves, Groves/Degale to give a few examples.

    I think it would be a good match up but doubt it will ever be made

    Andre & Andre are friends also, most likely not happening. I'd like to see Ward V Degale tho.

    Can we all just please ignore the Dirrell Brothers and maybe they'll go away, they can't beat anyone without controversy that's top tier, they are doomed to have close unentertaining matches with every good fighter they fight, they're the Lara's of SMW.

    I wrote about this last year, when Dirrel got robbed against Froch I knew the fight would not happen. Dirrel would have only fought Ward if it was the final match of the Super6. But he pulled out, wish he didn't though.

    Yup, Anthony is just simple overrated.

    But I think 4 years ago, Andre was pretty solid. He was second to Ward back then.

    I would like to see if Triple G moves up, fight Andre.D and Anthony though and eliminate them once and for all.

    Dirrell vs Ward is about equivalent to GGG vs Macklin, without the brutal KO.

    About the same levels, respectively. Dirrell is a good contender like Macklin was, but doesn't have that extra championship bit. Cant beat DeGale, Froch or Ward just like Macklin couldn't quite nab it vs Sturm and couldn't beat Martinez or GGG.

    Dirrell should beware fights with hungry Argentines with a couple early losses.

    P.S. CST you are insane for rating Frochs' victims other than prime Taylor above Golovkin's in the other thread :conf

    Some good posts on here, but seems many just dont think it can happen.
    I struggle to work Ward out really. Wasnt interested in Bute, apparently not interested in Kovalev or Stevenson, apparently not interested in Froch in Nottingham, dont know what his thoughts were on Kessler in Denmark, based on opinions I have read is not likely to fight either Dirrell brother. He just needs to fight some top prime SMWs which he has yet to do in his career. If it carries on this way, we wont know how good Ward is or could be

    This is a match I would like to see happen. Dirrell could be the one guy to pull an exciting match out of Ward. The reach advantage for Dirrell, with that jab he could control range over Ward. AD is a world class fighter. Which Andre is better? Make it happen!!
