Manny has one of the most cocky ring personalities I've ever seen so I'm not sure that point is all that strong. Also he's been through the ringer so many times he doesn't need to over compensate when he's at a press confrence. I will agree with the original poster but i'll add young fighters that are cocky as hell often perform much better once the chips are down. I wouldn't say this formula is nearly as perdictive for older fighters but you get the point.
I think its probably he looks like turd but he hits so hard the other guys are too busy hanging on to make him pay.
u lot r dumb taylor had pavlik out on his feet ready to go froch was no where near pavlik condition wen he went dwn it was flash' and lets remember hopkins cudnt drop or av pavlik that hurt an hop is a l.heavy an pavs a blown up middle so wat u tryna say? lets remember also wen last hop stop sum 1? wen last calzaghe ko sum 1? exactly dirrel got backed up early doors by hanshaw an got droped easy nw wen froch hits him im saying by the end of round 8 froch wud av finished the fight dirrel gets merked mid rounds between 6 & 8. dirrel cant punch no wher near world class level power. froch throws angled shots dirrel wnt c an b use to plus dirrels bin fightin ppl all 5'9 - 5'11 froch is 6ft 1ins an 74.5ins reach so will b near enuf same height an reach as dirrel is 6'2 an 75 reach. who has dirrel beaten? i say no more! :bbb
Yeah thats the one thing that I'm a bit confused about, every guy with a punch this guy has faced has been a no jab, 5'8, face-first, hooker. I honestly have no idea why this guy has been brought along so senslessly by his handlers. If he's the truth he should do fine regardless.
FFS. Lost all credibility IMO. Froch would've detroyed that guy in 3 ans I'm being generous to Hanshaw.
I am going out on a limb and picking Dirrell by UD. While Froch's win over Taylor was dramatic he was being out boxed for the majority of the fight. I think Dirrell is more of slick boxer than Taylor so will be less likely to get caught and hopefully won't tire like Taylor always does.
i think it's possible that andre dirrell can curtis stevens his way to an awful 12 round decision in fact i think that should be his strategy... he won't win any fans but he could win the fight that way
Lets not forget that Froch's strategy with Taylor was to come on strong in the second half of the fight when he knew Jermain would be puffing. He admitted afterward that he left it a little too late and wouldn't do that again in future. When the scores came in at the end, they were very close and on home turf Froch may have won on points too. ? I don't think Carl will make the same mistakes with Direll. I see the Cobra winning by late stoppage.
I dont buy that. I dont believe Froch could do anything with Taylor when he was active in the fight, its no coincidence to me that Froch came into it when Taylor's activity dried up.
Carl Froch vs. Jermain Taylor rounds 3 and 4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcnjSY4VyKM&feature=related Could you point out where froch does the 'chicken dance' please? And as for doing 'nothing but hold for the rest of the round', he threw more punches than Taylor! And furthermore the only (as in one) clinch was initiated by Taylor. Still don't let the evidence prevent you from continuing in your misinformed ways.
More than anything, that video shows that Taylor has no f***ing killer instinct, it should have been over at the end of round 3.:-(
I love the talking about froch catching up to dirrel at some point. I see the majority of people unanimously believe that dirrell will be beating froch in the early rounds. The thing is half of the people are betting on froch getting stronger as the fight goes on. Others (such as myself) have dirrel just winning the whole fight and breaking froch down with the high accumulation of punches adding up to the late rounds. I think dirrel's speed and reflexes will have froch scared to counter. Eventually froch will get KOed when he realizes he's in with a superior fighter. He toughness and will WILL NOT MEAN NOTHING because he's in their with an athlete that is many levels above him period.
This doesn't make sense. How do you know what a fighter is thinking? So what he couldn't do anything in your eyes against JT when JT was active. This is a 12 round fight. You think Froch went in saying, I'm going to be able to outbox JT from start to finish?
EDIT: Sorry, bumped this thread by accident, was trying to find old quotes from this thread and post them in another, posted in here by accident.
Froch is way over rated .. he slow as **** and his power isn't ever all that ... but I must admit he has a nice resume ... I rank him higher than dirrell only because he has the W on his record ... froch didn't land anything significant in their fight.. well mayb a body slam ... he got a split decision in europe over an american fighter! .. key word being split ...enough said ... froch was hurt in the fight and deserved a couple points deducted .. while dirrell got a point taken away for fighting like wlad.
