Now that he has once again failed at the top level is it safe to say that he was all American hype from day 1?
Don't think he was all hype exactly, as he turned out to be better as a couple of last decade's beltholders without ever winning one himself. It's clear that he always lacked heart and grit, and depended on his nationality to get a number of dubious calls his way. Not much chance that he ever wins a belt now, and his sloth looking, less talented brother actually turned out to have a more successful career.
I didn't watch the Showtime card but I am so glad not only that he finally has a stoppage defeat but there's finally an official result on his record to reflect what a little ***** Andre Dirrell has always been: RTD. I hope Uzcátegui was able to administer enough of a proper spanking to dissuade him from any further televised boxing ambitions, before he quit?
I actually had him edging Froch, that night he was very unlucky and exposed Froch's limitations against a good moving fighter, but besides that I've never got the hype.
That wasn't a fight. All 12 rounds are properly scored 9-9. Or better yet, zero-zero. Froch and Dirrell both fought like shit, nobody did ANY effective work, and it stands among the worst, ugliest, non-fights I've ever watched.
I had him winning that by a single point, but with his extreme negativity in that bout I was glad he didn't get the nod. I'm against bad judging, but that was an attempt to stealing a belt avoiding a fight.
