There's no question he'd outbox Miranda, but there's no question whom I'd have my money on, if Miranda landed a big right on Dirrell's chin....
Forget about them a really waste is Adre War a fighter that could be at least champion by now, if treated this guy well, He would be an elite but since getting dropped by journeymans, the guy have been fightitng bums.
I don't understand why some people think I'm bashing Dirrell. I'm just saying he's going up in the rankings too fast, like Jean Pascal did. What happened to Pascal? He fought too easy opponents, rose in the rankings and then got a championship fight. And he lost, because the gap between his previously best opponent and Carl Froch as too wide. It's ok for Dirrell to take his time, he's only 26. But if he jumps from Banks level to Andrade level, he will have a hard time. He has to slowly upgrade the level of his opponents, while correcting his flaws. I'm not sure he will become a champ but I recognize he's a good athlete with talent.
People need to chill. Shobox is a showcase show, and everyone knows that. The purses for Shobox are smaller than the purses for FNF. Guys fight on there for the exposure mostly. Anyway, Banks gives Dirrell a slightly different look. I'm a bit disappointed that it's a step back rather than a step up, but you're not going to get any of the better fighters to face him for that kind of money, especially since it seems like everyone and their mother is ranked in the top 15 by one of the sanctioning bodies at SMW and nobody wants to lose that status.
It's fine that he's showcasing his skills. But hasn't he done enough of that already? His last fight was a case in point. Instead of working hard for as many rounds as it would have taken to break the punching bag down and stop him, or at least absorb his pressure for 12 full rounds, he was given an early stoppage because he moved his hands fast in the other guy's face, with little effect. Now that's showcasing! But when does he get to learn and develop? To target a title shot or at least an eliminator in such a strong division, you need to learn the ropes. You need to take on decent C level opposition of various styles, etc. before targeting B- level competition. Dirrell's not doing that. If he was offered a title shot, he'd have to decline it, because he's not ready. That's not problematic. What is problematic is that he is not doing the kind of things that will get him ready...or if he is, he's really taking his time about it. Given his high rating, though, at the rate he's stepping it up, he'll have to either bite the bullet, which is dangerous and silly, or pass on a title shot...:huh
