I could understand him annoying people with the **** he says, but there's really nothing to hate.

Ward has fought all top tier fighter, won and with the exception of Kovalev, made them all look easy.
Not taking anything away from Kovalev, but I attribute Ward's difficulty with Kovalev more to his inactivity than what Kovalev was able to do.

Maybe not hate but there is enough to cause moderate to severe dislike. Come on, is anyone going to be watching an Andre Ward greatest hits clip on YouTube in 50 years? His fights are mostly ugly. The Kov fight wasn't bad but that had more to do with Kov being in there. Ward should keep quiet from this point and make a decision about what he wants to do. He is not coming across very well at all lately and has taken the, already very mild, shine from the Kov win with his mouth.

They both had 3 fights in the 18 months prior to their fight man.

In this case, quality trumps quantity.
The quality of Ward's come-back tune-ups were just not optimum for facing Kovalev.

There's no logic to a lot of what he says, just entitlement. In that interview for example he says he needs to be treated like the champ if a rematch were to occur despite making two and a half times as much as Kovalev did as champ the first time around.

Or saying he expected more from Kovalev like he ended up being some 1 dimensional plodder whilst having just said he can see how people scored the fight in Kovalev's favour.

It's **** like that pisses people off.

I agree. Barrera was good, but whatsisname Brand was woeful. Ward should have picked tougher guys to sharpen up with.

I understand he tried, but the money offered was too short to attract better tune-up opponents.
Suppose Golovkin hadn't ducked Ward and the fight happened (with 2 tune-ups before) and then Ward faced Kovalev.
That would have likely made a big difference.

    1)
    2) Ward couldn't have fought Kovalev because Andre would have been in hospital
    3):firedevil: Golovkin :firedevil:

Maybe Ward also believes this. He might convince himself that he'd have a chance in a rematch ;)

I am talking about the pathetic excuses some people are coming up with for why Kovalev outboxed Ward, it makes me laugh and cringe. I guess had Kovalev been given his deserved victory people would have made excuses for Ward regardless, :buitre:

If Kovalev couldn't beat Ward than Little G definitely can't.
Kovalev had great success because of his long reach and jab. Golovkin don't have that, nor does he possess as good a right hand as Kovalev.

Kovalev was able to outbox Ward on the outside, but was completely ineffective (except for headlocks) on the inside, but I'm sure you missed all that inside work.
There are levels to this boxing thing.

Keep telling yourself this, I guess you missed the hall of fame judges all scoring for Kova? Mainstream western media all scoring for Kova? The third man inside the ring, the referee as well scores it for Kova. A small minority of biased Ward fans scoring for Ward doesnt stop this from being a blatant robbery. Also Kovalev outboxed Ward, Ward only mustered wrestling, grappling and dirty tactics on the inside, that is not boxing, no wonder Kovalev used headlocks, to prevent Ward from using head butts.

Ward threw ineffective sporadic punches, moved in threw one punch then moved out, that was his game throughout the fight, and he employed grappling to complement his pathetic "inside game". Which is why Boxing experts had Kovalev winning. Ward was not effective at ALL. Also his punches lacked any significance.
