    Lord, not you again.

Of course Leonard was better at range. But he could fight on the inside with rapid flurries when he wanted to. Don't worry, you don't need to try to tell me anything about what Leonard could or could not do, or what happened in Leonard-Duran 1.

Inside fighting can be dirty, sure. It's grueling. But if your best "punch" is a headbutt or a hold-and-hit with one arm free then I can't put that on the same level as what guys like Duran and Chavez did. Or what Leonard was capable of doing.

As I said, Ward fights as he fights because he has to fight that way. Same reason why Wlad learned to grab and hold more after he got his chin cracked a few times. I understand why Ward fights that way, and I respect him for working with his limits, but I don't like it and I don't rate it very highly.

What's hilarious about the Hunter/Ward post-fight sell job is the idea that if there were less holding, Ward would have done better. Uh, no. Someone got dropped in the fight before a lot of clinching happened and that person was not Kovalev.

Ward is a worse version of Floyd (dull style) and he doesn't have a persona to make up for it, as Floyd does. That's why he has never gotten over with fans. He fights as he has to fight, and fans ignore him and turn off in droves.

The Lomachenko-Walters fight was a huge breath of fresh air, and real boxing, after the Kovalev-Ward bout. Real boxing, not wrestling that's called "infighting."

What you said is wrong. What you said is Ward only takes it in close so not to get his chin shattered.. When has Ward ever had his chin shattered?
He fought Kovelev in close to win you utter fool.
There was no possible way for him to win from the outside. Every time he moved in on Kovalev it was done so with the intention of winning the fight , not to protect his chin. You don't move in on guys if you want to protect your chin:facepalm:
Ward showed immense bravery in that fight after having a terrible first two rounds. Lots of guys would have went into survival mode and lost wide on the cards.

Klitschko and Ward are worlds apart. They are not even in the same league.. Wlad will never close down anybody. Its why he wouldn't go anywhere near David Haye.
Its why he wouldn't go anywhere near Tyson Fury and gave up all his belts because he was too scared to throw a punch in close. He butts , elbows , twists necks , leans down on spinal cords. All while never throwing a punch. .There's no craft or skill to what he does. His size his his best asset and without it he can barely win fights against bums. He makes Ward look like one of the cleanest boxers in the sport.
I saw loads of elbow work by Loma in that fight. You can't fight inside without dirty tricks. Its been part of boxing for the last 100 years. If Kovalev knew how to work inside he would have. But he didn't. You don't like it when your guy gets beaten rough , but you love it when the guys you support fight the same way.. i.e Wlad and Loma. And im not complaining about Loma using elbow work. I was very impressed.
Remember you bashed Ward for butting and said Wlad never butts? Then i showed you crystal clear video evidence of Wlad throwing a head butt? :drooling: You're an absolute joke of a poster.

Now, for people who are not idiots or novices to the sport, here's some more elaboration on the point that the poster above could not grasp.

There is a difference between proper inside fighting and wrestling. Of course, clinches take place and there will be some holding during most fights. But that's different than having a deliberate, continual strategy of obviously trying to grab and maul your opponent in a non-boxing way. That's wrestling, not boxing.

Here are a few examples of writers -- both of whom felt Ward won the fight -- describing what Ward was doing against Kovalev.

    http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/...andre-ward-sergey-kovalev-unite-rematch-calls
    - Steve Bunce, ESPN (thought Ward won the fight)
    - "Kovalev certainly faded after six, a victim of the pace he set,
    This content is protected
and possibly the years of shrinking his big body into the light-heavyweight limit have now become a real drain."

    http://nypost.com/2016/11/20/andre-ward-survives-knockdown-to-take-sergey-kovalev-titles/
    - George Willis, New York Post (thought Ward won the fight)
    - "It was the first taste of the champion’s power [when Kovalev knocked Ward down] and prompted Ward to clench anytime Kovalev seemed ready to attack...
    This content is protected
, Kovalev did his own brand of grappling, pushing Ward into the ropes."

These are two simple examples. Same word choice. This isn't an accident by sportswriters who have never covered the sport before this bout. They, like myself and you, understand the difference between infighting and "wrestling."

And, as Willis points out, there was a reason why Ward chose to wrestle Kovalev. And that's because Ward knew he could not eat more of Kovalev's power and box him straight-up. He tried it already, and failed. So unless he wanted to get knocked out, it was time to start grappling. Which, of course, is not boxing and is not infighting. As I stated a few posts ago in this thread, Ward clinches for the same reason Wlad does. It's not a new thing for Ward, and any serious observer of the sport knows this and has known it for a long time as regards Ward. It's basic information.

If you don't understand the sport like I do, please don't waste my time responding to me or I'll eviscerate you and, if you really make me mad, I'll embarrass you. If you annoy me, I'll just ignore you. Like what I'm now doing to the poster above.

So by YOU eviscerating somebody , you really mean you'll just post quotes by other people to make your point for you?? :risas3:

You couldn't eviscerate the skin off an orange. You say the exact same thing in EVERY post

"Ward clinches for the same reason Wlad does" .

Thats all you can say.. Ive explained to you in detail over and over the massive differences in the way they box and Clinch.
Your answer every time - I'm not debating with you anymore.

    You're trash son. Complete garbage.:chuck:

I don't agree fully with this video. They missed a few obvious punches and counted a few illegal blows, but this is still more accurate than CompuBox. Skip to the end of the video if you want to see a still image of the punch count.

Or just look at the still image before the video even plays lmao

The judges scorecard is the only one that matters. Kov lost. Deal with it.

Eh, he was going by video when he came up with that. It doesn't change the content of the video itself.

I posted that Ward is the best at getting inside and slowing the pace. Now is Ward a great inside fighter, not really because hugging and grabbing is not fighting. Clinching is used or should be only when you are in trouble not as a tactical plan. Not taking away from Ward because the ref, like other refs these days allow fighters to grab and hold as a plan when it is not designed to be used that way.

In the rematch Krusher best reserve his strength and just keep that jab going or Ward will pull this off again IMO.
Also for Ward to gloat is shameful based on his hugging and grabbing but hey a Win is a Win I guess.

Ward was hurt twice in the fight from what I could tell. Kov was hurt once with a body shot. Your bias is showing pretty hard here if you don't think ward won any rounds convincingly. If you watched the fight on a televised broadcast you'd see it was one that could have went either way. There were about 4 swing rounds. Depending on how you scored them that's who won the fight. Period.

Sure if you think so, have the fight take place anywhere else and Kovalev wins, that homefield advantage surely played well for Ward. Have it take place in Egypt and Kova wins, have it take place in China and Kova wins, Germany, UK, France etc etc.
